ECLC SCHOOL SAFETY AWARENESS - OCTOBER 2013
Dear Family:
Each year, the month of October celebrates many school safety awareness topics such as the Week of Respect and Red Ribbon Week. The Early Childhood Learning Center will have many activities throughout the month of October focusing on the importance of respecting one another and a healthy, drug-free life. This entire month raises public awareness on the importance of all of these topics. We will kick off our month with several activities during the Week of October 7 – 10, 2013. Children are encouraged to choose healthy, safe activities and resist pressure to use drugs as well as being respectful to friends, teachers and his/her environment. During this week, we will wear red good character bracelets to show our unified commitment to create a drug-free America and themed attire to show school-wide respect. Please encourage your child to participate in these fun activities.
Monday, October 7th:“I’m A ‘Jean-ius’, I’m Drug Free!” – Wear your jeans to school.
Tuesday:Tuesday, October 8th:“Follow Your Dreams, Don’t Do Drugs.”- Wear your pajamas to school.
WedneWednesday, October 9th:“Orange You Glad You’re Drug Free?”- Wear something orange.
Thursday, October 10th:“Team Up Against Drugs.”- Wear your favorite team apparel.
During the week of respect teachers will be distributing the “Good Choices, Good Character, Bright Future” bracelets. (We encourage students to wear these throughout the entire week.) Students will also be pledging to make positive, healthy choices in Health class by designing hands to show their positive choices and participating in healthy decision making activities in the weekly guidance lessons. We are also encouraging our families to participate in our monthly Spirit Collection, Coins for Charity – To benefit “Pennies for Playgrounds”. This organization helps to rebuild and/or replace playgrounds that were destroyed during Hurricane Sandy. We will continue to collect coins in the classrooms until Thursday, October 31st. We are also extending an invite to our “One School, One Goal Bully & Drug Free” unified family yoga class on Monday, October 7th at 6:00 p.m. in the MSS gymnasium. Please see the attached letter on instructions on how to RSVP.
Thank you for your support!
