The Right to Know About Cell Phone Safety

Both the National Academies of Science (NAS) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization (WHO) recognize that the question of the effects of exposure to radiofrequency radiation (RFR) from cell phones is also in question for all wireless devices and technologies. These references relate to RFR exposure from cell phones and their antenna sites, cordless phones, wireless Smart Meters, Wi-Fi, wireless home security systems and baby monitors, and RFR interference with Implanted Medical Devices.

June 11, 2012 – Women’s College Hospital (WCH), Toronto, Ontario, Canada – “The effects of invisible waves“ - Statement on diagnosis and care of patients with electromagnetic hypersensitivity:

EMS symptoms include poor sleep, fatigue, headache, nausea, dizziness, heart palpitations,

memory impairment and skin rashes. Patients’ reactions vary, some requiring life-altering changes

to minimize exposures as much as possible.

“We need to create more awareness about this condition,” said Dr. Riina Bray, medical director, Environmental Health Clinic, WCH. “Health-care practitioners need to better understand EMS so they can help their patients prevent and manage their symptoms. The public needs to know how to protect themselves from the broad range of health impacts electromagnetic fields have on their minds and bodies.”

January 18, 2012 - letter to the Austrian Federal Ministry for Economics, Family and Youth, The Austrian Chamber of Physicians (Austrian Medical Association –OAK ( ) calls for a reconsideration or suspension of “the planned timetable of the mandatory introduction of ‘smart meters’” in Austria, “pending clarification and solution of open questions.”

Illinois - Naperville Smart Meter Awareness - citizens opposing the municipal electric utility’s wireless Smart Meter Program. They have filed a Complaint for Injunctive Relief in federal court to halt installation of wireless Smart Meters.

Maryland - Utility customers who oppose smart meters can defer installation of the new digital, wireless devices until state energy regulators make a final decision on Opt Out policy:

Vermont – Utility customers statewide can refuse the installation of a wireless Smart Meter at no cost to them. They can also, at any time, request that a wireless Smart Meter be removed and replaced when they move to a different residence.
