Members were asked to update their phone numbers.

The recent Coffee morning was discussed, Lisa thanked Jan and Linda for their help and attendance. Mrs. Tovey tried to encourage patients downstairs to attend. The low attendance could be due to school holidays. Mrs. Cottrell said the poster was a little bit dull and had produced a poster, which she had done on publisher for the waiting room in colour, it was agreed that this would be put up. The Panel had noticed that there was a poster in the Chemist next door. It has been put on the TV and website and Lisa said she will put it in the next newsletter. Mrs. Cottrell had an article from a newspaper which encourages GP surgeries to do coffee morning to help lonely people. The coffee morning is the third Monday of every month and all patients will be encouraged to attend.

The Suggestion box downstairs was empty.

Copies of the minute have been sent out to everyone, but Mrs. Ridney said they did not receive it and would prefer to have it emailed, Lisa asked everyone to confirm their email addresses. Mrs. Tovey and Mrs. Rees would prefer the minutes to be posted to them.

There were comments “Nurses appointments always run late. I have had to rebook twice before because after ½ hour could not wait anymore and already 20 minutes pas my appointment time.

Lisa replied

Unfortunately from time to time both nurses and doctors can run late, although we try and give adequate time for each appointment it is not always

achievable, as on occasion a consultation can take longer than expected due to unforeseen circumstances of an individual which we have a duty of care to address.

It was explained that Drs are booked at 10 minute appointments, Nurse time can vary as for example 10 minutes for a blood pressure and 20 minutes for MOT. Appointments can be extended if this is explained to the Receptionist at the time of booking.

The surgery is updating the Practice leaflet and this will be going to the Printers soon.

The Minute of the Patient Panel have been put on the website.

The Practice are going to undertake a Patient surgery but this is going to be out sourced, Lisa is looking into this at the moment.

Lisa asked if there had been any more issues with Prescriptions and there had not, Lisa said that the staff were to have more training.

It was explained that there is a Pharmacist here on a Friday and you can book an appointment to discuss medication issues with him, he also does blood pressures. We also have a Pharmacist on a Wednesday, although he does not see patients he is willing to speak to them on the phone.

The issue with the Phone was discussed, if we have more lines we would need more staff and this is not feasible. A discussion took place regarding the emergency appointments .

Mr. Hughes asked how many Doctors were on in an evening, as he has been in on Friday and there was only one doctor, Dr. Read was on holiday. He also said there was sometimes a problem with the Chemist next door when collecting drugs as they were not always in stock. Mrs. Ridney said if you ordered electronically this could sometimes prove to be quicker and more efficient.

Events were discussed, it had been decided at a previous meeting that we should have three events a year. Lisa had emailed the dementia people but had got not reply, Mr. Murray gave her a phone number to contact them.

St Johns Ambulance had also been contacted regarding basic first aid, CPR, Lisa said that there would possible only be 20 places available to patients as well as the panel, she has contacted them again for further information.

Mrs. Cottrell asked about Smear tests for women and prostate cancer test for men as she had noticed we did not have any posters in the waiting room. Also mental illness information, Lisa will look into putting up posters, put in newsletter and also on the TV.

The Walking Group at Coseley Park was discussed, the surgery will put up a poster. They walk 1 hours round the Park. There is also Yoga one day, Linda said she will get the information and poster to put in waiting room. Mrs. Pargeter had been to a keep fit class for six weeks 10.12.30 which she recommended.

A member said she was disappointed that Garrick was leaving, she said he was the best Diabetic Nurse she had seen, Lisa confirmed he would be leaving in March as we have now got a new Nurse name Suzi. She stressed how happy she had been with her treatment and she was concerned regarding her care but Lisa suggested she see the new nurse.

Testing strips for diabetic was discussed, there are a list of items in Reception which have been taken off Prescription.

The Panel stated that we are still advertising flu jabs on the TV but patients can request a prescription and still have one if they want.

Mrs. Pargeter said she came to see Tracey and she did not know what she had come for, the Receptionist do ask patient and enter this onto the computer, but Mrs. Pargeter had changed her appointment with a gentleman in the waiting room who did not want to wait so that could explain the confusion.

Mr. Murray informed the Panel that CitizenAdvice hubs were closing, advice would be given over the phone.

Next meeting 9th April. 2018
