Learning and Teaching Committee

Create-What makes a good lesson booklet.
Explore what skills we should be teaching to give pupils the best chance of a positive destination/ career. /

  3. Pupils from both subgroups would then work together to produce the booklet

IDL Committee

AIM / ACTION (including responsible personnel) / TIMESCALE / HOW WILL SUCCESS BE EVALUATED AND PROMOTED?
To raise the profile of IDL within the school amongst pupils and staff.
To provide clear links of coursework and skills that are shared across the school so that the staff committee can focus on implementation.
To focus on junior school experiences, particularly S3, and work with the staff committee to plan and develop such a series of lessons. / Rebrand the committee as pupils and staff believe that ‘IDL’ is confusing for pupils – changes will hopefully encourage more participation, particularly junior school.

Present to whole school explaining the IDL focus and that there will be an IDL week when students can share their thoughts and experiences. This will help give fuel to the staff committee.
Liaise and work alongside the staff committee in the creation of the IDL video and toolkit. / September 2017

Digital Committee

To raise the awareness of available digital technologies within the school amongst pupils and staff.
Ensure the majority of pupils and staff engage with Show My Homework
Encourage the use of certain digital technologies to improve learning and teaching throughout the school / Distribute a questionnaire co created by committee members and staff to take an audit of digital technologies being used around the school.
Encourage staff to attend seminars led by pupils to help staff become more comfortable and confident in using digital technology
Engage with the lead staff in charge of show my homework. Reach out for good practice to help showcase how SMHW is being used effectively. / October 2017

Feedback from staff initially and then a follow up session that will allow staff members to showcase how they have used them.
The numbers of staff regularly using show my homework will increase.

Equalities Committee

Sub Groups:
Making Sense Of: Aim is to include all faiths and beliefs in the MSO events more consistently.
Gender: Aim is to ensure boys and girls feel able to participate in all areas of school life.
LGBTI: Aim of the sub group is to end the stigma of being an LGBTI person in Woodfarm High. / Organise inclusive contemplation room experiences. MSO Rights and MSO Faith agreed as working titles for workshops. (MSO Group: Anna K, Katie L, Anum R, Iona C, Rose F, Kelsey M, Jonas B)
Focus on two key areas – PE activities and engagement of boys in whole school events/activities. Carry out a survey of pupils to find out views, meet with PE to discuss possible solutions/alternatives to current curriculum. Hold focus groups with boys to find out barriers preventing participation. (Gender group: Georgia W, Sarah M, Madi C, Rebecca S, Lauren M)
Create lessons for PSHE, deliver assemblies raising awareness of LGBTI issues. (LGBTI group: Leonie M, Ryan K, Holly D, D’Angelo C, Ramanpreet K, Madeeha S, Victoria D) / June 2018
