JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:Young Person’s Support Worker
(Voices Coordinator)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Project Coordinator
LOCATION: Grace House,Antrim
Key Responsibilities:
- To facilitate group work sessions and accredited programmes to young people which will increase knowledge and understanding of healthy/unhealthy relationships in school and community settings
- To promote, organise and facilitate a Voices group for young people in the local area
- To facilitate and deliver bespoke programmes to meet the needs of young people
Duties:
Facilitating group work/Voices group
- To create a positive environment for young people which encourages them to support each other and learn through sharing experiences;
- To work closely with other Women’s Aid staff to provide a programme of activities and self-development opportunities for young people.
- To co-ordinate and plan the delivery of external agencies to deliver information to young people
- To signpost young people to services, internal and external to Women’s Aid in ABCLN
- To consult with young people in the Voices group to identify their needs in relation to learning and development
Team Working:
- To participate in team meetings;
- To respect the roles and responsibilities of all members of the team;
- To work with autonomy, but seek support and guidance when required, to fulfil the requirement of this post;
- To advise the Project Coordinator of issues or concerns that may affect the success of the service.
Administration:
- To provide verbal and / or written reports as requested;
- To develop recording systems / records relevant to activities and to meet funder requirements.
- To input information required onto the secure online Evide Impact Tracker system, inputting referral information and statistical data.
Training:
- To prepare for, and attend, supervision sessions;
- Complete induction process;
- Keep up to date with legislation and policies related to education, training & employment
- To provide verbal / written reports as required;
- To be aware of your own training needs and to attend relevant training courses in consultation with theManager.
Fundraising / Finance:
- To contribute to the fundraising strategy and needs of the organisation and actively participate in fundraising activities;
- To ensure that the service operates within agreed revenue budgets and that finances are administered effectively and efficiently in accordance with Women’s Aid and funder requirements.
Confidentiality:
- To respect the confidentiality of all information received as a result of the postholder’s duties.
Health and Safety:
- To ensure the organisations Health and Safety Policy and Procedures are adhered to and appropriate Risk Assessments are carried out and recommendations implemented when appropriate.
Monitoring / Evaluation
- To regularly monitor and evaluate the work of the service and meet funder requirements in terms of monitoring and evaluation as well as organisational targets.
Awareness Raising:
- To publicise and promote the service;
- To develop publications / leaflets / posters;
- To liaise with relevant statutory, community and voluntary agencies in relation to the project.
Promotional Work:
- To be aware of the need for PR and promotional work within the community and other agencies and to assist with the development of publications and pamphlets which help to facilitate this.
- To create and develop opportunities for talks, discussions, in order to raise the public awareness of domestic violence and the impact on young people.
Outside Agencies:
- To liaise and consult with statutory and voluntary agencies in maintaining ‘good working’ relationships.
- To be aware of local initiatives which may impact on the project.
Volunteers:
- To promote volunteering within Women’s Aid in Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey and assist in the development of volunteer opportunities within the project.
Organisational:
- Adhere to organisational policies and procedures.
- Raise staff awareness of the role.
- Work within the ethos of the organisation.
- Undertake such other reasonable duties as Management require.
Other:
- To undertake any additional duties relevant to the post as may be specified by the Project Manager of Women’s Aid in ABCLN & Management Committee
Hours of Work:20hours per week
There may be some evening and weekend work.
Time-in-lieu can be taken for any additional hours worked.
Salary Scale: £19,932 pro rata.
Duration:Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, Empowering Young People Programme until 31.03.20.
Note: The duties and responsibilities may be amended as a result of ongoing evaluation
