Women Members of the House of Commons
WOMEN MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
This page lists the 118 women elected to the House of Commons on 7 June 2001, as well as those returned in by-elections. This is the second-highest number of women MPs in history, and 2001 marked the first time more than one woman had been elected from Northern Ireland. In addition to three from Northern Ireland there are four from Wales, 11 from Scotland, and 100 English women MPs. The women on Table 1 are listed by party, with a column showing their majorities, while Table 2 shows how many women come from each party. All 134 previous women MPs are listed separately on the Observatory, by decade and by party.
