Women In The Outdoors Constitution
Article l - Name, Purpose, and Non-Discrimination Policy of the Organization.
Section 1: Name: Women In The Outdoors
Section 2 - Purpose: Women In The Outdoors strives to empower women of all identities and backgrounds by encouraging them to find self confidence and accept their inner beauty by breaking gender stereotypes and participating in outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, fishing, shooting, hunting and many more.
Section 3 - Non-Discrimination Policy: This organization does not discriminate on the basis of age, ancestry, color, disability, gender identity or expression, genetic information, HIV/AIDS status, military status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, or any other bases under the law, in its activities, programs, admission, and employment.
Article II - Membership: To be a voting member of Women In The Outdoors you must currently be enrolled in Ohio State. Faculty, alumni, professionals, etc. can be non voting members.
Article III - Organization Leadership: Titles, terms of office, type of selection, and duties of the leaders.
President: plans events, runs meetings
Vice President: runs meetings if president is absent, assists in planning events and meetings
Treasurer: handles money
Secretary: Takes minutes at meetings
Social Chair:Assists president in planning large-scale events
All members of the leadership are voted to their position by the club members, with whoever gets the majority of the votes winning the election. All terms are for the school year (2 semesters).
Article VI – Method of Selecting and/or Removing Officers and Members.
All women who would like to become members will become members.
Men interested in the cause and are knowledgeable in the field of the outdoors can apply to join by sending a personal statement to the leadership.
If the leadership feels that a member of the leadership is not doing his or her job, that person can be removed from their position. A vote of all leadership members will take place and if the majority votes for the removal, the person will be removed from the leadership. If the leadership views that a member is being hurtful to the organization and others it in, that person can be removed from the group by a majority vote by the leadership.
Article VII – Advisor(s) or Advisory Board: Qualification Criteria.
Advisors of student organizations must be members of the University faculty or Administrative & Professional staff. Responsibilities and expectations of advisors should be clearly and adequately described.
Article VIII – Meetings of the Organization: Required meetings and their frequency.
Meetings for members are held biweekly on Thursdays from 8-9pm. The leadership members will meet on off weeks on Thursdays from 8-9pm. Members must attend at least 2 meetings per semester to retain membership. Leaders must attend all meetings unless reason given to the President.
Article IX – Method of Amending Constitution: Proposed amendments should be in writing, should not be acted upon but read in the general meeting in which they are proposed, should be read again at a specified number of subsequent general meetings and the general meeting in which the votes will be taken. Approval should require at least two-thirds of voting members present (and to conduct any business an organization should have quorum present at a business meeting, which is at minimum 50% + 1 of total organization members). The constitution should not be amended easily or frequently.
Article X – Method of Dissolution of Organization
Requirements and procedures for dissolution of the student organization should be stated. Should any organization assets and debt exist, appropriate means for disposing of these assets and debts should be specified clearly and unequivocally.
