With A Little Help FromMy (Little) Friends…

The Beatles Story hasteamed up with Radio City’s Cash for Kids to bring ‘A Little Help’ to the lives of disabled and disadvantaged children across the Liverpool City Region.

The fundraising campaign will be launched on 29th March 2017 tomark 50 years since The Beatles began recording ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’; a song which holds a poignant message and one of the tracks from their iconic ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ album.

The Beatles Story are taking the opportunity on this key anniversary to raise awarenessand support for Cash for Kids, a fantastic UK charity which responds to the needs of children in our communities so that those at a disadvantage can live life to the full and realise their individual potential.

The campaign will be launched through a series of videos showcasing some of the work that Cash for Kids have been supporting in the community. Narrated by The Beatles Story’s own ‘little friends’, The Boot-high Beatles, the videos feature Maizie Edmunds, Clare Mount School, Team Oasis and Poppy Fairclough.

We wanted to showcase this work within our Sgt Pepper 50th anniversary campaign and The Beatles’ song ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ is the perfect opportunity for us to do so. We hope that people both locally and internationally recognise the great work that they do and will give generously towards the cause”.

Cash for Kids will also be hosting an afternoon fundraising event at Liverpool’s Hilton Hotel on Thursday 8th June 2017; tickets for which can be purchased online with all proceeds going towards the charity.The Sgt. Pepper-themed event will include entertainment, dinner, drinks, a charity raffle and guest speakers.

Cash for Kids is the official charity of Radio City and provides a helping hand to disabled and disadvantaged children in Liverpool and the surrounding areas.Each year they hope to have thousands of pounds available for grants to children’s charities, individuals and many other causes throughout the Radio City transmission area.

All the money is raised locally and spent locally and goes to children and young people under 18 throughout the region, with mental, physical or sensory disabilities, with behavioural or psychological disorders, living in poverty or situations of deprivation, suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.

About Maizie Edmunds:

Maizie Edmunds is 12 years old and has an unknown syndrome. This includes complex problems on all her limbs with a very small range of movement and she has had this since birth. With a little help from Cash for Kids, funds were raised forMaizie’s new specially adapted wheelchair just in time for her starting high school. Maizie wanted to be like all of her friends and to be independent without having a carer pushing her around in her wheelchair. She’s now whizzing around the corridors of her new school like everyone else.

About Clare Mount School:

Clare Mount School on the Wirralspecializes in education for children with autism. The school does a fantastic job and the dedication of its staff and teachers is second to none. With a little help from Cash for Kids, Clare Mount has opened up a cafe in the school grounds, bringing the community into the school to help with the understanding of the condition and to help improve self-esteem and confidence in the students.

About Team Oasis:

Team Oasis performing arts has served the children of the community for the past 12 years and has an outstanding reputation for delivering both traditional and contemporary dance classes. With a little help from Cash for Kid’s grant scheme the school were able to offer free uniforms to children, many of whom come from families who struggle to afford items of clothing on top of their living costs. By having all the students in the same uniform, the school were able to ease financial tensions and social stigmas for families.

About Poppy Fairclough:

Poppy Fairclough is 11 years old and all she’s ever wanted to do is dance. Poppy was diagnosed with sight impairment and following cataract surgery has a reduced vision for both near and distance tasks. With a little help from public donations, Cash for Kids were able to pay for a whole years’ worth of dance lessons for Poppy, who is extremely passionate and talented at dance.
