Dates: Monday, August 22, 2016 – Friday, October 7th, 2016

Learning Target:Students will become familiar with the course instructor, the course syllabus and expectations. They will begin to develop their personal brand of professionalism, learn about Wisenbaker Builder Services, the staff and the expectations.

The student develops skills for success in the workplace. The student is expected to: (a) identify and model appropriate grooming and appearance for the workplace; (B) demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and initiative; (c) research positive interpersonal skills, including respect for diversity; (model appropriate business and personal etiquette in the workplace; (e) exhibit productive work habits, ethical practices, and a positive attitude; (f) demonstrate the ability to work with other employees to support the organization and complete assigned tasks; (g) identify how to prioritize work to fulfill responsibilities and meet deadlines; (h) evaluate the relationship of good physical and mental health to job success and personal achievement; (j) develop soft skills in a working environment.

The student applies concepts and skills related to safety in the workplace: (a) identify and apply safe working practices related to the workplace; (b) demonstrate knowledge of personal and occupational safety practices in the workplace; (c) offer solutions related to unsafe work practices and attitudes; (d) explain OSHA regulations in the workplace; and determine health and wellness practices that include job performance.

Daily Activities:

Monday, August 22, 2016 - I will work at the CATE Center; ride the bus to Wisenbaker and show the drop off place to the bus driver. Students will stay on their respective campuses with their campus representatives for 5 – 7th periods.

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

  • Roll Check-students will create table tents of their names
  • Introduction of myself
  • Student interviews and discussion
  • Take photos of each student for mentors and course poster
  • Enroll students in Remind!
  • Distribute and explain the student handbook

Wednesday, August 24, 2016-

  • Discuss Late Arrival Days – Thursday morning bus and the fact that the calls will be that at CATE Center on Thursdays. Student will be expected to bring course materials, be prepared with any assignments completed or be prepared to take any tests.
  • Guest Speakers – Dr. Marley Morris, Kristy Starkey, Charlotte Bennett, Larkin LaSeuer, CATE Center, their roles, the purpose of the CATE programs and their expectation of the students and program.
  • CATE Parking Pass applications will be distributed
  • Distribute and discuss the course handbook

Thursday, August 25, 2016 –

  • Students will explore the Wisenbaker website and watch the History of the company video
  • What makes a good intern? Students will describe and discuss the characteristics of a good employee, a good boss and a good mentor.
  • Students will take the abbreviated Meyers Briggs Personality test and then

discuss the implications oftheir assessments.

  • Students will begin the “What is Your Personal Brand?” Lesson

Friday, August 26, 2016 –

  • Stand Ups will be introduced and the first week of StandUps will be led by the instructor
  • Students will participate in the Bring Your “A” Game to Work lesson, A is for Attitude
