Coached in England, Brazil, USA and Guatemala - Founder of FirstTouchSoccerAcademy

Advantages to winter indoor training:

  • A chance to learn new skills and develop first touch on the ball.
  • Keep in touch with teammates through the winter months and have some fun.
  • Enter the new pre-season training sessions focused, fit and ready to rumble.
  • Warm indoor environment where the practices are never cancelled.

How the program works:

Each session will be broken up into three parts.

Part One. The first part we will be using different foot drills. We’ll be working on drills that can be also used in the game. It is exciting to watch the skill levels and confidence rise after lots of repetitions. This also helps with strengthening the legs and is good for building lung-power, acceleration and agility.

Part Two. The second part we will be working on different moves. Firstly to learn the moves and then to execute them on another player. We’ll focus on what all players need the most. Receiving the ball with a delicate touch, the first touch away from a player. Securing the ball and looking up to make a pass. Reading the defenders mind and then deceiving them with the right decision and the right move. I will also teach all the different techniques of striking the ball. Teaching the players to use the outside and underneath of the foot.

Part Three. The third part will be for scrimmage. It is nice to have some fun at the end of practice. I will be stopping the game for the first third of play to offer advice on making a better decision. During the rest of scrimmage we will play and award points for moves. This is an excellent system for encouraging the players to use what we have been practicing. I will keep score on every player as an incentive throughout the program.

SOME TESTIMONIALS

Alfie Hurley changed soccer in Boulder county. Alfie introduced a ball skills approach to youth soccer versus the kick and run approach taught by most trainers and coaches. My daughter Olivia was one of the recipients of this training and today processes the ability to touch a ball with every part of her foot. She will attend the University of Maryland playing in the ACC 2009. Olivia went through ODP, to Regionals and has recently made the National Pool to play for the US team. I recommend “First Touch” by Alfie Hurley to every player wanting to take soccer to the next level. The only downside is parents will find themselves trying to keep up with their kids new love of the game of soccer.

Hi Alfie, Oct 7th 2008 - Our U10 boys won the CYS State Cup this weekend. They dominated the pitch 16 goals scored 2 against. We are finally playing a possession game - drop passes, switching the field, basically pulling their defenses apart.

The kids feel confident enough with the ball to relax and look up for options. this is a direct result of your work over the last year. Special thanks for working with my son. He can beat anyone on the pitch 1v1 and easily take on 2 or 3 attackers. His confidence enables him to see opportunities and create something out of nothing.

He's been with you consistently for 2 years now and it shows.

Alfie has endless knowledge of ball skills and the game.He can pinpoint specific areas that need to be worked on in a player’s game. He is patient with them and makes sure they understand what he is trying to teach them.He is genuine and sincere and it's obvious he loves working with kids.

Thank you for everything you have done for our daughter.

Alfie helped my daughter go from being a good athlete, to a soccer playerwho hasadvanced foot skills and a much better understanding of the game. His instruction gave her greater confidence in herself and the ability tocompete against other top players. Alfie is the best trainer we have seen, bar none.

Periodically, my daughter has worked with Alfie over the past three years and the time spent was very productive. Alfie is an excellent trainer and coach and he combines tactical training with strategic thinking. Today my daughter is an ODP forward -- Alfie was a great contributor to her success.

Under his training and guidance she has become both quite skilled and confident in her game”If there is one extra thing you can do to assist your child with youth soccer it would be to spend time with Alfie.”

Hi Alfie, I thought you might like to know, out of only four freshmen to make junior varsity at Fairview, three were coached by you. They have her at forward and she is thriving and having a blast. Your teaching is sure bearing a lot of fruit for Paige, Hannah and Caitlin. Their skills and passing abilities really stand out. THANK YOU! Thought you might like to know, all the best.
