Winning Anti-Bullying Songs 2013

Why Does It Have To Be Me? / We Gotta Stop Bullying
I walk into the playground,
Chills run down my spine.
Another day of torture,
I wish I could speed up time.
But soon it will be playtime,
I’m hiding in the crowd,
Hoping they won’t find me.
Find me crying out loud.
Why does it have to be me.
All this pain and misery.
I just want to be free,
Why can’t you let me be?
I know that I should share my
Fears with someone who
Could soothe away my worries.
Someone to help, but who?
And so I tell my teacher.
She’ll melt my fears away.
She talks it through together,
So why did I used to say,
Why does it have to be me,
All this pain and misery?
I just want to be free.
Why can’t you let me be?

But when you’re getting bullied / Bullying
Verse 1
But it just feels like I can’t enter school.

Does it always feel like nothing’s changed at all?
Verse 2
Some nights I stay up crying in my bed
Because people have been mean.
These words of anger and blame just keep haunting me, all day.

But when you close your eyes,
Does it always feel like nothing’s changed at all?

I might even feel ashamed.
Just tell the teacher,
Because she cares about us.

But when you close your eyes,
Does it always feel like you’re getting bullied?
But when you close your eyes,
Does it always feel like you’re getting bullied?

Hurting never helps / Speak up!
Hurting never helps, hurting never helps,
Hurting never helps you through.
If I was so unkind, then you’d be on my mind,
My heart would feel so guilty too.
Everybody’s different, come from a
different place,
But anybody can be hurt.
See tears run down their face.
Hurting never helps, hurting never helps,
Hurting never helps you through.
The power that you feel, you know
that it’s not real,
I wonder who’s been hurting you?
I cry into the mirror and I just can’t replace
The happy hours you stole from me
As tears run down my face.
All the cool kids coming out of school,
They make me feel invisible.
You know my secret, you know my shame.
A pity you don’t know my name.
Hurting never helps, hurting never helps,
Hurting never helps you through.
Hiding from your heart, you’ll tear yourself apart.
You’d change your life if you just knew – that
Hurting never helps, hurting never helps,
Hurting never helps you through.

Year 5 / If you are a victim of bullying in any way ..
You are not alone,
So …
Speak up today.
We’ve all had it at some point
And it’s not okay.
Make sure to speak to somebody,
Or you’ll make it even worse!
There are playground bullies
And cyber bullies, too.
They think it’s so funny
To pick on people like you!
You can talk to an adult
Or a teacher at school.
They can sort it out
And things will be cool.
They’ll talk to the bully and say
“Leave them alone”,
And, if they don’t, tell a parent at home.
There are playground bullies
And cyber bullies too.
It is really silly,
So …
Don’t do what they do!

She gave up
Verse 1
She was just a girl,
Beaten up by words,
She couldn’t help but believe what they said.
She hid away,
Taken back by yesterday,
Couldn’t show her face again.
Couldn’t stay strong,
From that day,
Tears streaming down her face.
Chorus
Didn’t do nothing wrong,
Couldn’t turn back the page,
Used to be a happy girl,
But they made her run away.
Just because she was different,
Didn’t make her worth any less,
But she got tired of this,
As you would probably have guessed.
She gave up.
Oh, oh,
She gave up,
No, no.
Verse 2
Too many times she has cut,
And tried to commit suicide.
Told no-one else,
Kept it to herself,
That day she almost died.
People hurt her,
In every single way,
That’s why she’s not here today. / Chorus
Didn’t do nothing wrong,
Couldn’t turn back the page,
Used to be a happy girl,
But they made her run away.
Just because she was different,
Didn’t make her worth any less,
But she got tired of this,
As you would probably have guessed.
She gave up.
Oh, oh,
She gave up,
No, no.
Verse 3
To this day,
Because of you,
She couldn’t get through,
Nowhere to be found,
She was lying on the ground,
What did she do … ?
Chorus
Didn’t do nothing wrong,
Couldn’t turn back the page,
Used to be a happy girl,
But they made her run away.
Just because she was different,
Didn’t make her worth any less,
But she got tired of this,
As you would probably have guessed.

Damaged, Bruised, Broken and Confused
Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But words will never hurt me.
These words are lies because, in my eyes,
Words are worse than what you see.
“Why do people bully?” You may ask.
Well, the answer to that is that they are as fragile as glass.
They may seem hard and threatening to our eyes,
But inside they have probably led terrible lives.
Names are games they try for fun,
And they don’t really care what damage is done.
They may make you feel bad, inside and out,
But you’ll get through this without a doubt.
Broken, scarred, damaged and hurt, treated like filth,
No better than dirt,
But you’ll get through this, come out strong.
Show them they all were wrong.
There may be answers to why they do this,
But what they are, we will never know.
You can’t love everyone,
But what words can show are emotions running low.
So if you have something nice to say,
Express words in a happier way
Because when you put someone down,
You’re probably the one that ends up with
A frown 

Picking up the pieces
You looked at me,
My heart can’t slow down,
I can barely breathe,
You did this to me.
I hope you pay.
I have the mental scars,
To remind me of each day.
I am picking up the pieces,
Cause she don’t know which way to go.
I am picking up the pieces,
It’s the end of the road,
And now all her time was wasted,
And I am picking up the pieces,
For her.
That beautiful girl,
Who had always shone,
Bullies took it too far,
And now she’s gone.
I hope you pay,
She has those mental scars,
To remind her of each day.
I am picking up the pieces,
Cause she don’t know which way to go.
I am picking up the pieces,
It’s the end of the road.
And now all her time was wasted,
And I am picking up the pieces,
For her. / She used to be a happy girl,
Living in a happy world.
But the day
She had to run.
Now she is a lonely girl,
Living in a lonely world.
The day the bullies
Made her their fun.
I am picking up the pieces,
Cause she don’t know which way to go.
I am picking up the pieces,
It’s the end of the road.
And now all her time was wasted,
And I am picking up the pieces,
For her.

Every Time
She came home again from school,
Tears streaming down her face.
She felt so hopeless,
Doing all that she could do
To hide the pain,
Sleeping restless.
Her mum and dad keep asking why
She hides her ‘phone under the pillow,
They don’t want to see her cry,
But their hearts are broke,
Not knowing what to do …
She’s feeling like a ‘plane that’s been shot down from the sky,
Their words make her cry
And cut like knives,
Every time …
He walks home today from school,
Bruises on his face.
He tries to hide them,
Favourite dinner on the table
But he feels disgraced with himself.
He’s so scared he can hardly breathe,
As he walks on home, all on his own,
And out from the darkness they come and chase him,
Down the street but if only they could see …
He’s feeling like a ‘plane that’s been shot down from the sky,
Their words make him cry,
And cut like knives,
Every time …
This world ain’t never good enough.
Outsiders and people sleeping rough.
I try to make sense of it but I can’t.
Now he’s running to get away from them.
He doesn’t see that car around the bend,
But now he’s fallen asleep with Jesus …
He’s feeling like an angel that’s gained its wings to fly,
Now their own words haunt them at night,
And cut like knives,
