Netuxo Ltd is a small IT co-operative based in Hackney Wick, London. Our work involves supplying network and end-user support to customers and developing websites. Most of our customers are UK charities, campaigning organisations and other NGOs. You can view our website at

You will be the person in the company who has primary responsibility for supporting our clients who use Windows-based networks.

This is a long-term position and the ideal candidate will be enthusiastic at the prospect of joining the co-operative and becoming a director, with a direct stake in the future of the company.

There is pay parity across the company and hourly rates are reviewed approximately every three months.

We regret that we currently occupy an office on the first floor with no lift. There are 21 steps.

Job description

Your typical weekly tasks include:

–Managing the job queue of support requests

–Preparing estimates for future work

–Performing routine desktop maintenance for clients

–Performing day-to-day server management (2003/2008)

–Providing advice and information checking for clients

–Troubleshooting a broad range of Windows desktop issues for users

–Troubleshooting general networking related issues for clients

–Sourcing and purchasing hardware for clients and stock

–Installing and uninstalling server and desktop applications and drivers for clients

–Documenting user setups in Netuxo CRM and other technical admin

–Attending the team meeting and presenting pertinent information to the other directors, taking a share at facilitation and minute-taking

–Sharing cleaning tasks with the other staff

There is also the possibility of co-managing Netuxo webservers, carrying out occasional website development and programming tasks. This can be discussed further at interview stage if of interest.

Your monthly tasks include:

–One evening of routine Windows server maintenance for clients

Your quarterly tasks include:

–Attending a staff supervision session

–Specific Windows server maintenance tasks which have a quarterly cycle

Your annual tasks include:

–Attending the company AGM

–Attending contract review sessions with clients and managing amendments

You will be expected to participate in co-operative meetings and collective decision making. You will be expected to become a director of the company within a reasonable period of time, and to carry out other tasks as agreed with other co-op members.

You must have experience of

–Administering Windows 2003/2008 servers

–Helpdesk or similar customer-facing support role

–Using a ticketing system for managing job queues

–Administering Windows 7/XP

–Microsoft Exchange 2003/7/10

–Microsoft Office 2003/7/10

–Common backup and antivirus applications for Windows OS (eg BackupExec)

–Local Area Network management and troubleshooting

–Working without supervision

–Working in a small team

You must be

DESIRABLE

–Direct experience of working in a small collective or co-operative

–Experience of working with Mac OS X and any Linux distribution

–Visual Basic, C#, .NET, PHP, XHTML, jQuery, CSS

–Other programming languages and technologies

–Working in the non-profit, campaigning, or other NGO sector
