Dear Policy Debate Coach:
Wichita Collegiate School and The Independent School cordially invite you and your debate squad to participate in the Dana Hensley Invitational Debate Tournament, held at the campus of Wichita Collegiate School on Saturday, Dec. 9th, 2017. Our tournament will feature Wichita Collegiate hosting a JV Division at the Collegiate Middle School, and The Independent School hosting the Open Division at the Collegiate Upper School. We have combined our two tournaments at one site to allow coaches to attend both with a single sponsor. The two buildings are roughly 200 yards apart. Schools should enter the tournament using Tabroom.com
The JV division is for novices and for second-year debaters who have not consistently had success in open tournaments.
The tournament will consist of five rounds, utilizing the delay power match format. Awards will be given to the top 8 teams. Speaker awards will be given to the top six speakers in both divisions. Sweepstakes will be awarded to the top three schools with the best three-team record in the tournament. In order to be eligible for sweeps, a school must participate in both divisions.
Due to room considerations, each division will be limited to 40 teams. The initial limit will be three teams in a division, and six entries per school total. Extra entries will be placed on a waiting list. Entry fees are $5 per team. Schools that drop entries after the Wednesday before the tournament will still be charged an entry fee.
There are a number of lunch options located within two miles of our campus.
Enclosed is a copy of our tournament regulations, schedule, and an entry form. If our tournament is filled when we receive your entry form, we will notify you immediately. The entry deadline is Friday, October, 31st. . Please contact John Steere at The Independent School for all entry information.
Sincerely,
