Who We Are

WICA was founded in September 2001. Samar Sleiman, founder and current Alumni, created WICA based on the idea of developing a network of females within a corporate community. Under the encouragement of Dr. Susanne O’Callaghan and Dr. Barry Miller, the concept became bona fide. Today, WICA has matured into a professional organization and formed extensive relationships with organizations, alumni and corporate representatives.

Our Mission

We, the members of WICA are dedicated to being future leaders of Corporate America by building our inner strength, excelling professionally and academically, and also helping fellow students succeed in our community. Our objectives are to create a leadership environment, develop relationships among current members and alumni, host professional workshops, network with external organizations and be involved in community service

OUR MAIN GOALS INCLUDE:

  1. Obtaining Mentors

These are people who have a positive influence on your career.

They offer inspiration, great experience and can be seen as wise and loyal advisors.

  1. Networking

Means developing a broad list of contacts -- people you’ve met through various business and social functions – and encouraging them to assist you in looking for a job. People in your network may be able to give you job leads, offer you advice and information about a particular company or industry, and introduce you to others so that you can expand your network.

WICA Woman of the Year:

Each year WICA honors a woman that exemplifies the values of WICA. A woman who excels in her career, is devoted to her family and is active in the community.

Our first woman of the year was Marlene Sanders, a breakthrough woman and Emmy award winner. The next year we honored Carol Evans, the CEO of Working Mother Media, last year it was Donna Orender, the President of the WNBA and this year we honored Jennifer Scully-Lerner a Vice President of Goldman Sachs.

Where Are They Now?

Each year our WICA members graduate and go on to greater things in their career. We are very proud of them. Here are some of our past members:

Samar Sleimen
