I trust the first part of this weekly letter will bring a smile to your face, and the second part will challenge and encourage you to care about the children.

A little boy was talking to his teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small. The little boy stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that it was physically impossible to swallow a human. The little boy said, “When I get to heaven, I will ask Jonah.” The teacher asked, “What if Jonah went to hell?” The little boy replied, “Then you ask him.”

I believe the heart of any ministry containschildren. You win the children to Christ; you reach the parents. So in our ministries the question I often ask is "Who cares about the children?"From the elementary school, to the middle school, to the high school as well as on the college campus, the young people are eagerly asking,“Who will love us, who will care for us?” They are groping for the answers to life. They have the questions, but I wonder who is giving them the answers?“Who cares about the children? What shall we do with the children?”

In Matthew 18:10-14. Jesus said, "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones..." My friends, do not sell child evangelism short. The younger children come to Christ, the longer they have to live for Jesus, and the less time the Devil has of their lives. One of our most important goals should be to elevate the Sunday School hour, the weekly children’s ministry and the week of Vacation Bible School.

I know the kids don't bring in money.

I know they cause a commotion.

I know they have untamed energy, but

I know they have a soul Jesus came and died to save.

Praise God, heaven will be peopled by these children. We tend to think children need to grow older before they can be saved or develop spiritual character in their lives.

Don't ignore their young lives, for their life can also be short.

Don't be like some who have bickered and fussed over petty things and actually quit serving the Lord, or lived a two-faced life. As such they have despised the children.

Win them to Christ and love the fire out of them, because Jesus cares for them, and so should we.

In Matthew 21:16. Jesus said, "Out of the mouth of children...”How true these words have been over and over again in real life. Many a child has been instrumental in leading their parents to Jesus Christ. You may ask, “How can that happen?”My answer is by going out into the highways and hedges of this area to bring in boys and girls to be won for Christ, and then by the grace of God reaching their parents with that same life-saving Gospel. Again I say, don't sell child evangelism short. God takes a great deal of interest in children, so much so that Jesus died for them just as He died for older folks.

In Mark 10:13-16 Jesus said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me and forbid them not." The word "suffer" means "permit them." "Don't turn them away from coming to me."

As parents, teachers, pastors, workers, and grandparents, again stand up, join hands, and sayfor the cause of Christ and the sake of their souls, "WE CARE ABOUT THE CHILDREN."

May God's blessing be upon you this week as you read and meditate on the first message from I Peter 5:1-4“A Job Description of the Shephard.”To easily access the Weekly SERMON message go to and click on the link at the bottom of this page.
