FOREST MEDICAL CONSISTS OF TWO GP PRACTICE’S CALLED OAK TREE LANE SURGERY AND ROSEMARY STREET HEALTH CENTRE AND ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE OF 13500 PATIENTS IN THE MANSFIELD, NOTTINGHAMSHIRE AREA. OAK TREE LANE SURGERY SITE IS A SMALL BUILDING SITUATED ON JUBILEE WAY SOUTH WHEREAS ROSEMARY STREET HEALTH CENTRE IS A LARGE MODERN BUILDING AT THE BOTTOM END OF ROSEMARY STREET NEXT TO CHESTERFIELD ROAD.

PARTNERS WHO HOLD THE CONTRACT FOR FOREST MEDICAL WITH NHS ENGLAND ARE DRS GHOSH, PRIMORAC, PARK AND SMITH. WE ALSO EMPLOY TWO SALARIED GP’S AND AS WE ARE A TRAINING PRACTICE WE CAN ALSO HAVE UP TO SEVEN REGISTRARS AT A TIME.

FOREST MEDICAL IS AN INNOVATIVE PRACTICE AND WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING AT NEW AREAS OF CARE FOR OUR PATIENTS. WE DO A GREAT DEAL OF MINOR SURGERY AND ARE ALSO LOOKING INTO PROVIDING A ENT SERVICE AND BOTOX CLINICS.

RECENTLY WE HAVE TAKEN PART IN FUND REAISING FOR BREAST CANCER. ALL THE STAFF WORE SOMETHING PINK FOR THE DAY AND THERE WERE SOME WONDERFUL PINK WIGS AND OUTFITS TO BE SEEN. ON HALLOWEEN ALL STAFF DRESSED UP TO PROVIDE A THEMED CLINIC FOR TWO THREE AND FOUR YEAR OLDS FLUENZ VACCINATIONS. WE ALL WORK VERY HARD BUT ALSO TRY TO BRING IN SOME FUN TOO.

THERE IS A GREAT DEAL MORE TO A GP RECEPTIONIST ROLE THAN ANY OTHER RECEPTIONIST. NOT ONLY DOES IT INCLUDED MAKING APPOINTMENTS BUT ALSO DEALING WITH THE HEALTH OF ALL PATIENTS AND ENSURING THEY ARE SCREENED ON A REGULAR BASIS. YOU WILL EARN ABOUT THE DIFFERENT BLOOD TESTS PERFORMED; ACTIONING RESULTS; REFERRALS TO SECONDARY CARE; REPEAT PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS; AND MANY IT FUNCTIONS SUCH AS THE CLINIC SYSTEMS; NHS INTRANET; EMAILS AND TELEPHONE SYSTEMS.

FRONT DESK RECEPTIONISTS MAIN DUTIES ARE –

GREETING PATIENTS AS THEY COME IN TO THE PRACTICE

DEALING WITH PHARMACY QUERIES

MAKING APPOINTMENTS FOR PATIENTS TO SEE NURSES AND DOCTORS

PRODUCING PRESCRIPTIONS

PRINTING MEDICAL RECORDS

DEALING WITH EMERGENCIES AND LIAISING WITH PARAMEDICS

The ideal candidate will have the confidence to deal with various individuals and groups. You will be supported to undertake recognised qualifications whilst gaining invaluable on-the-job experience. Other Information:

  • This is a MONTHLY post and you will be entitled to receive statutory minimum annual leave.
  • You are responsible for funding your own travel to and from your place of work and may be expected to travel as reasonably required.

What is an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship allows you to study towards a recognised qualification whilst in an employed position and usually includes;

  • Job-specifics training through working alongside experienced staff
  • A competency based qualification to demonstrate you have the skills required to carry out the job. These are assessed by breaking down the contents of the jobs within your specific occupation into tasks called units of competences and will be measured through observations, assessments and witness testimony.
  • A technical qualification that includes theoretical knowledge required in an occupation and underpins the knowledge required for the competencies.
  • Functional Skills (Literacy, Numeracy and IT)Dependent on your prior attainment you may need to be assessed in a literacy, numeracy and ICT skills which are an integral part of your apprenticeship. Upon successfully completion you will be awarded additional certificates of recognition.

Other important information

From the 1st October 2013, the National Minimum Wage (NMW) for apprentices aged 16-18, and those aged over 19 who are in the first year of their Apprenticeship, is set at £2.68 per hour. The NMW applies to time working and time spent training as this is also part of the Apprenticeship. Anyone not covered by the age categories above will be entitled to the NMW appropriate to their age
