Hi! My name is ______and I play baseball at LakeshoreHigh School. We are conducting our annual hit-a-thon fund-raiser, and basically I’m asking you for a donation.

As you may know, there are many costs with running our baseball program. The hit-a-thon is a major fundraiser that we have to help us to offset these costs. You can base your donation on the distance of a pitch that I hit; however, most people want to make a flat contribution, such as $25 or $50, regardless of the distance. Would you like for me to tell you about our distance formula, or would you rather just make a flat contribution?

(If they ask about your distance formula, have a chart made for several distance/contribution amounts):

We will be hitting on May 30th at the high school. If I hit at a distance of 300 feet, and you donated 10 cents a foot; that would be a $30 donation; or if you donated 25 cents a foot, your contribution would be $75.

(If they ask how much most people contribute):

The average contribution is $50-$100 but you can certainly donate less or better yet, even more. Any amount helps and we do appreciate any donation you can make. Thank you very much. Everyone in the program really appreciates your help. You can count on me and my teammates to work hard to have a great baseballseason next year!

*Note:choose the amount most appropriate to your contributor---but be aware that the more you ask for, the more of a donation you will get. Don’t be afraid to ask for even $50-$100 if you think the contributor can afford it. Set up a time/place to collect the money. If they pay with a check, itshould be made out to Titan Athletic Booster Club (or TABC). Make sure you write the name of the contributor and the amount donated on your collection sheet.)
