LCI Island 2015

In Keflavik we landed Thursday morning 20 / 8-15. We rented a car and started our Island Adventure with a swim in the "Blue Lagoon". Lyrical mind and with smooth skin after the lovely experience we started our drive to Akureyri. It was me and my LC sisters Maria and Annika. We were all blown away by the beautiful scenery and we had a nice time in the car and after almost six hours we arrived in the beautiful town of Akureyri. We had a great welcome from Icelandic Johanna who generously hosted us for three nights. We stayed in her basement with two bedrooms, a kitchen and bathroom. We arrived late on Thursday night and crawled into freshly-made beds. Friday morning, wearing LC-Sweden T-shirt, skirt and hat-diadem, I got excited for my first LCI meeting. The atmosphere was festive and it was a great feeling of warmth and fellowship throughout the meeting. Something I appreciated the extra was the information from Nepal and how our money collected is used and beneficial. And also of course, Children o the dump. Gratifying and inspiring that together we can really make a difference! After the meeting, there was little time for rest and change of scene for tonight's home party. I was at the party No 21 and met women from Iceland, Finland, Holland, Denmark and Sweden. We tasted dried fish and birch schnapps before dinner and then served cod (heavenly) chicken and salad. After dinner we played some games and had a really nice time. After another good night's sleep, me and Annika from my LC club, went off to ride Icelandic horses. We had an unforgettable experience, enjoying the Icelandic nature on horse backs. On Saturday evening we walked in our heels and dresses to the gala party and met both old and new acquaintances. We were in a sports hall which was transformed into a banquet hall and the tables were nicely decorated with, among others, hearts in ceramics made by the Icelandic Ladies circlers. Everyone was excited throughout the dinner, and afterwards it was a good move on the dance floor. I danced so I could barely walk when we were going home at night. Just as it should be!

When I went on the plane home it was with a happy mind and Open heart.
