What's a VoiceThread?
A VoiceThread is a collaborative, multimedia slideshow.It is web-based and free.It is a media album that can hold essentially any type of media (images, documents and videos) and allows people to make comments in 5 different ways - using voice (with a microphone or telephone), text, audio file, or video (with a webcam) - and share them with anyone they wish. A VoiceThread allows group conversations to be collected and shared in one place, from anywhere in the world.
What can you do with a Voice Thread?
You can create a slideshow that you can narrate alone or with others.You can add audio or text comments to use the Voice Thread to demonstrate, explain, analyze, discuss, critique and interpret.
How hard is it to create a Voice Thread?
Once you create your account, there are three basic steps.First, upload pictures. Second, add comments.Third, name the Voice Thread and select sharing options.
What about privacy and security?
Voice Threads have multiple privacy and security settings. The Voice Thread can be completely private, open to invited members, or completely open and accessible.Comments can be open to all users, closed completely, moderated or not moderated.

Navigating VoiceThread
There are three main tabs.
…allows you to select and view and recently posted public VoiceThreads.
…allows you to create a new VoiceThread.
…allows you to access all your created VoiceThreads.
Creating a VoiceThread
1)Click on Create tab.
2)Click on Upload.
3)Click on From My Computer. First make sure that all the images you will use are saved in one folder.
4)Navigate to your images.
5)Click on one image and click on Open.While you can select andupload more than one image at a time, if the images are large, it can take longer for the images to upload or causes VoiceThread to freeze.
6)While on the Upload step, you can rearrange images by clicking and dragging.
7)You can also customize individual pages of your VoiceThread by adding a title.
8)Click on Add a Title and Description at the top to name your VoiceThread.
9)To add initial comments to an image, first click on the image and then click on Comment.
10)You can record an audio comment or type a comment.(You can also record a comment using your webcam.)
11)Use the navigation arrows in the right and left corners to move back and forth through your VoiceThread.
12)Click on Share to set security and sharing settings.
13)Under Sharing Option, select one of three privacy options.
14)If you choose to have comments from other users, decide whether to moderate comments.
15)If you choose Private, no one but you can see your VoiceThread until you invite others, or reset the option to Public.
16)Click on Options to select viewing options for your VoiceThread .
17)By switching to the MyVoice tab, you can view your VoiceThread as a user will view it.You can also add comments in this view.
18)To add more images or change other settings of your VoiceThread, click on the Menu in the top left corner and select Edit.
