What We Are Learning This Week

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In school this week we will celebrate National Day on Wednesday. Children can come to school in UAE clothing or the related colours. No school bags or packed lunches are needed as school will finish at 12 o’clock. If you would like to send in any traditional food for your child to share with her class please send it in either with your child in the morning or by 9.30am. There will be an assembly for Key Stage 2 children at 8.15am in the school hall and you are very welcome to join us.

If you are able to support us in school on a weekly basis to listen to children read, please email me on We will then try to organise a suitable time for us all.

To help you better support your children at home here is a summary of what we will be teaching and learning in class this week.

PATHS / English
Language / Reading and Writing
This week we will be finalising our own non-chronological report about Ancient Egypt,
organising writing into paragraphs with subheadings. The children will also be developing
their speaking skills as they present their home-made shaduffs to the class.
Maths / Multiplication
This week we will continue to look at multiplication and its inverse-division.
Other Subjects / Light and Shadows
We are learning about the different sources of light and to understand that reflection is the return of light from a surface. In groups, the children will experiment with reflection using torches and mirrors. They will then learn the related vocabulary.

Year 3 Homework Week beginning 26/11/2017

Reading:

- Read home readers as often as possible together with any other reading material. Look at the note in the front of your reading journal to explain how to record reading.

- Raz Kids – students should be completing the comprehension for each reading book.

Maths: We have been doing repeated addition which leads to multiplication in class. Now it’s time to know your times tables. Go to https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button. Try doing the 2, 5, 10, 3 and 4 times tables. Also continue to learn the number bonds to 10, 20 and 100.
