What is spring basketball?

Our teams participate in both Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and Youth Basketball of America (YBOA). Teams that qualify for the national tournaments and receive a bid may decide to travel for one week during the summer months to compete. The teams compete in what is termed “qualifier” tournaments. Teams that do well will earn bids to compete at State and National tournaments.

How do tryouts work?

We will be hosting pre-tryout clinics for the first time this year to give the prospective players a chance to learn and experience what the tryouts will be like and what skills coaches will be looking for as they begin selecting their teams during the tryouts. This is also an opportunity for parents to ask questions about the organization and meet some of the coaches.

Why play for Beyond the Hoop?

- The emphasis on fundamentals

- Basketball clinics - free for Bulldawg players that will allow players to learn and develop those fundamentals of the game that are instrumental to their development.

- Academic mentoring and tutoring. We expect players to maintain their academic responsibilities and will provide tutors to those in need of help.

What about the coaches?

Our coaches use positive feedback to teach the fundamentals of the game we do not allow our coaches to belittle or treat young players in a ways that is harmful or detrimental to their enthusiasm of the game. Sports provide a great opportunity to teach many lessons that are valuable in life. Our coaches are experienced basketball coaches who understand what it means to be a child athlete.
