Aim of volunteering role:
To help MK Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service (SEND IAS) to provide a range of services to parents/carers and families eligible for the support of the service.
The objective of the volunteering role is to provide:
Office based support for staff and volunteers, or to assist with the ongoing service administration, evaluations, training, workshops, conferences, information days, and literature distribution.
Example Tasks:
- To provide an office based administration service.
- To answer telephone enquiries.
- To ensure that appropriate standards of confidentiality and security are maintained across the service.
- To use IT equipment.
- To be an integral member of the office team.
- To assist with organisation and running of events such as workshops and conferences.
Time:
Volunteers are welcome to spend as long or as short a time working with us, so long as it is by arrangement with the Volunteer Co-ordinator / Named Contact. It is preferred that you commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week for 1 year, however, a tailored package which meets the needs of both the volunteer and service is possible. There are regular volunteers’ meetings to which you will be invited.
Place of work:
Our base is: MK SEND IAS, Civic Offices of MK Council, Saxon Gate, East Central Milton Keynes MK9 3EJ. The service manager will appoint a named contact where appropriate.

- Able to work on own initiative.
