Words in the City 2016

8-10 July 2016 Part of Bradford Festival

Micro-Commissions Application Form

Words in the City is a weekend poetry festival taking place in Bradford City Centre each summer, organised by Ilkley Literature Festival. City Park in Bradford provides the perfect backdrop for a weekend of inspiring poetry and spoken word, with the beautiful mirror pool and magnificent Edwardian City Hall. The weekend mixes performances and masterclasses from leading poets such as Tony Harrison, Simon Armitage, and Patience Agbabi with pop up performances and hands on family activity.

Our micro-commissions aim to:

·  enable and support Bradford artists to collaborate, show new work using poetry/spoken word in new and/or unusual spaces and develop their audiences.

·  grow new audiences for poetry and spoken word and increase access for people from diverse backgrounds who would not normally attend arts activities.

The 2016 Festival takes place as part of Bradford Festival.
