How to Play/Rules – School Qualifier

• Children will play in pairs (ideally one girl and one boy) over the 6-holes. They will play one ball taking alternate shots e.g. player 1 hits the first shot and from wherever the ball finishes, player 2 then hits the next shot and this pattern continues until the pair have completed the hole.

• Each pair will be provided with a putter and one soft ball, a scorecard and pencil to record their score at the end of each hole. Up to 60 minutes will be given to each class to complete the holes; time at the beginning of the session will be allocated for a number of practice holes.

• Golf Parc holes for all school qualifying events will be standardised.

• Scoring – a maximum of 10 shots per hole will be recorded. Children will keep a tally of the number of hits they have on each hole and at the end of each hole record their total on the scorecard provided. To complete the hole the ball must finish on the red spot at the bottom of the flag. In the event of a tie, winners** will be calculated on the shots taken to complete the last 3 holes, last 2 holes and finally the last hole – this is called ‘count back’.

• A risk assessment form will be completed before each event. Children will be told what is expected of them at the beginning of the session.
