What is Camp Ramah?
Camp Ramah Leadership training was established years ago as a resource for Activities Advisors to provide a rich environment for students to engage in teambuilding, challenging discussions and job training for the upcoming school year. Students spend 3 days and 2 nights at the beautiful Camp Ramah facility. Facilities include: cabins for students, individual rooms for advisors, a dining hall, hiking areas, pool, camp fire and much more.
Who attends?
High School students from California are invited to attend leadership camp. Most schools bring their entire entering ASB/ leadership class. In addition, a few schools bring their incoming 9th grade students (current 8th graders) to participate. Camp is set-up to offer beginning leadership training for those joining ASB, while also challenging returning ASB students to further develop their skills and reflect on past experience.
Counseling Groups
The format of camp includes large group sessions, breakout sessions and counseling sessions. Students will be assigned a counsel group for the duration of camp. The counsel groups meet for five sessions that are led by trained peers. The small group dynamic allows students the opportunity to build deeper relationships and feel more connected with their peers. This environment allows students to discuss the challenging issues these teens encounter everyday.
Camp Atmosphere
Students spend the majority of the day in sessions, but do have time to relax and socialize from time to time. Students stay in cabins together and are supervised at night by gammas (college students who attended Camp Ramah). The freedom of camp allows students the opportunity to practice time management and responsibility.
