(Half-Term 1) /
This half term I will learn:

  2. > What is Art Nouveau, and what are the characteristics demonstrated in Gaudi’s architecture?
  3. >The influence of natural form on architectural design.
  4. Media/Mediums
  5. > How to create a well composed collage of images to fill an A5 page
  6. >How to record accurately from secondary sources of architectural imagery
  7. >How to use drawing pencil and coloured pencil with success.
  8. Techniques / Technology
  9. >How to create an observational drawing outline in feint pencil.
  10. > How to blend a variety of tones and shades using coloured pencil building on previous knowledge of colour mixing with paint in year 7.
  11. >How to use a range of mark making skills to create different effects when recording accurately.
  12. > How to apply shading and tone to create2D & 3D depth to images.
  13. >How to create mosaic effects using coloured pencil.
Half-term assessment:
A baseline assessment testing you observational drawing skills to create an accurate pencil architectural drawing– The assessment will also be marking you on your use of tone and shade. / Key Terms I will learn this half term:

  • Complete a baseline assessment in Art – Focus is on an observational 2b architectural drawing.

Week 3 & 4 – I will be able to:
  • Discuss research and create a collage based on Gaudi’s buildings using the images collected for homework.
  • Understand how to use a brush to create a basic tonal wash.
  • Learn how to understand and identify a good well balanced collage / composition.

Find out the main characteristics of Gaudi’s work.
Week 5 & 6 – I will be able to:
  • Learn how to record accurately to create a well-balanced composition.
  • Learn how to blend colored pencils to create a range of tones and shades.
/ Practice mixing a range of tones and shades using coloured pencils.
Week 7 - I will be able to:
  • Discuss how to create a design for a 3D sculpture.
  • Experiment with ideas / drawings to create a design for a 3D ceramic sculpture using your sketchbook.
  • Annotate your designs where appropriate to heighten understanding.
/ Practice rough design ideas for your sculptures.
  • You must try to draw the design to appear 3D on a flat surface
  • Think about techniques that you may want to use in clay – eg. Cutting out holes, raising areas, adding texture and mark-making.
