We are committed to promoting and enabling more people in Powys to be more active, more often for the benefit of their health and well being. We understand that some customers experience certain barriers, which prevents them from accessing facilities and having the opportunity to participate in healthy activity.

What is an Access to Fitness Card?

An Access to Fitness card provides free access to Leisure Services if you live in Powys and receive one of a range of benefits, are registered disabled, or are a former member of the Armed Forceswho has been discharged through injury or on medical grounds.

The benefits of an Access to Fitness card

The Access to Fitness Card allows free access to Powys fitness suites (following a full induction) and swimming pools during public sessions. No concessions are available on court hire e.g. squash and badminton, or courses / activities that require booking.

All applications will be processed at you local County Council sports or leisure centre.

Who is eligible for an Access to Fitness Card?

You must be resident in Powys and in receipt of one of the following benefits:-

  • Job Seekers Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance
  • War disablement pension / Service pension (for injury/medical discharge)
  • Or are registered disabled

Applying for an Access to Fitness card

When applying, please bring along evidence to support your application-

  • Proof of eligibility(see below)
  • Proof of Powys residency e.g. official letter / utility bill
  • Two passport size photos
  • A completed Access to Fitness Application Form

  • Award letter from department for work & pensions
  • Paymentbook
  • SPVA (Service Personnel & Veterans Agency) Status Card

Using your Access to Fitness card

Your card will be accepted at all Powys County Council Sports and Leisure Centres. It must be shown on each and every visit, otherwise full price for the activity will apply.The staff will be checking that :-

  • The card has not expired
  • The photograph corresponds with the user
  • The card has not been tampered with

Renewing your existing Access to Fitness card

Your card is renewable one year from the date of issue, with exception of Job Seekers Allowance, which is renewable every 3 months from the date of issue. Your old card must be surrendered when it is due for renewal.

If you no longer become entitled to the benefit you are claimingYou must surrender your card immediately at the centre where you first registered.

Powys Access to Fitness Terms and Conditions

The Access to Fitness membership card remains the property of PowysCounty Council

and must be returned upon request

• The card is valid for one year from the date of issue or three months for claimants of Job Seekers Allowance

• The card is not transferable and is for the holder’s use only.

• Failure to adhere to Powys County Council’s standard terms and conditions

will result in termination of membership and withdrawal of the card

• Powys County Council reserves the right to refuse membership.

• Powys County Council reserves the right to suspend or cancel a membership

due to misconduct or causing danger to other users.

• Access to Fitness card holders are subject to all leisure centre rules and

regulations.

• One photograph will be affixed to your card and oneretained by the centre to prevent fraudulent use of the card. If fraud isdiscovered after you have been granted membership, membership will berevoked.

• All changes to personal details need to be disclosed in order to keep your

membership up to date. A re-application form is required when there are any changes

in personal details orcircumstances, or at the end of their membership term.

• If incorrect information with the intent of defrauding Powys County Council is

discovered after you have been granted membership, membership will berevoked.

• Completion and signature of an application form constitutes acceptance of

these terms and conditions.

• Lost, stolen and damaged cards can be replaced by paying a fee of £1.00 at one

of the issuing facilities.

• The replacement card is valid for the same period of the card it replaces.

• Your card must be presented at reception on each visit to receive full

benefits. Powys County Council reserves the right to amend these benefits at

any time.

• You must complete an induction/fitness assessment for gym access.

• Powys County Council reserves the right to alter fees and booking conditions

within any leisure facility.

• Powys County Council reserves the right to alter the times of opening.

• Concessionary admission charges are subject to regular review.

• Free admission will only apply on production of yourAccess to Fitness card.

• The Council reserves the right to refuse issue of an Access to Fitness card and also

admission.

• Children under 18 years must have authorisation from parent/guardian and necessary support if required to apply for an Access to Fitness card.
