Activity / Learn about the festival of Divali through a range of activities. / Paintings, Collage, Colour Magic Pictures, Fire safety, Story of Gun Powder Plot and Cooking / Invite parents to accompany us up to Ossett on a market day and back. Once there we will look at Christmas decorations, stalls and perhaps purchase a warm mug of cocoa. / To find out about how people celebrate Christmas in different counties. Visitors day to be held. / To perform a Nativity to an audience / Making Decorations, and Christmas cards / To create paintings or collage to make a winter display. Use The Hibernating Pig as stimulus.

Teaching / To listen to and retell the story of Rama and Sita. To make Diva’s using a variety of materials. Eat Indian food and create Rangoli patterns. / Look carefully at pictures of fireworks including features and colours.
Using the Ipad’s creating a drawing pad picture using ICT and conduct a circle time on fire safety. Run a cook it session to bake bonfire treats / Take children to Ossett. Afterwards ask children to paint/draw and describe what they have seen and learnt to add to our display. / Prior to visitors think of questions to ask visitors. Discuss how the chn celebrate Christmas. Share the big book and the PowerPoints of how different countries celebrate Christmas. Group the children and visitors to talk to the children about their experience of Christmas in another country. Chn to ask questions and practitioner to record. / Listen to the songs and learn to sing them. Children with speaking parts to learn lines and hold lots of rehearsals before the performance. / Look at images of winter scenes and discuss what media to use. Support children individually or in small groups to create a quality piece of art work.
