What is a LiveBinder?

LiveBinders are virtual 3 ring binders. LiveBinders lets you do with digital information what you do with the papers on your desk—organize them into nice containers—like 3-ring binders on your shelf. At LiveBinders, you can create as many binders as you need to help organize the stuff you collect and share over the internet—for free.

Addinga LiveBinder It Button to your browser:

LiveBinder It is a bookmarking tool that you can install on your browser tool bar. While you are browsing the web, you can add web pages directly into one of your binders or a new binder in your account by clicking on the LiveBinder It link. This way, you can add pages without having to go to the LiveBinders site. It is a quicker and easier way to add web pages to your binders.

In Google Chrome: Go to and drag the tiny LiveBinder Itbutton up to your toolbar.

In Internet Explorer 8: Go to and follow the directions below:

In Firefox:Go to Check that your 'Bookmarks' toolbar is visible - in your browser. (To check go to 'View > Toolbars >' and place a check next to 'Bookmarks Toolbar').Simply drag the LiveBinder It button up to your toolbar.

Create a LiveBinder free account:

Click on the Sign Up button in the far right corner.

Fill in the form and click Sign Up.

Building a Binder:

When you come across a site you like, click on LiveBinder It in your browser.

If you aren’t logged in to your LiveBinder account, you’ll be prompted to login.

A new window will open and you will name the tab and decide if you want to add the page to an existing binder or create a new binder. Once you make your choice, click Add.

You can add pages to your binders at any time, from any computer.

Editing a Binder:

To edit a LiveBinder, simply go to , login, and click on My Binders at the top of the screen.

Here you will see little icons representing each of your current binders. Choose the binder you would like to work on and click on it.

To change a tab’s title, simply click on the tab and type in the name you would like it to have. Using the pull down menu next to each tab you can move, edit, or delete your tabs.

To get some additional editing options, click on Edit Menu in the top right corner.

This screen allows you to upload files and media, add text, and change your binder cover.

It’s important to set your binder access here as well. You can choose to have a public or a private binder and can choose if you want it to be a binder that others can copy or not. Make your changes and then click Update.

How to Share a Binder:

You can share LiveBinders in a variety of ways using the Share menu at the bottom of the LiveBinder screen.

You can email a binder to someone or share it via Twitter or Facebook. You can also embed a binder on a blog or webpage by clicking on the large E icon. This will open up a new window that gives you an embed code to insert on your blog or webpage.
