What follows is a list of some stores in The Catholic University of America area where you can find reasonable prices for groceries, cleaning supplies, pharmacy, clothing, books, stationary, etc.

Next to each store we have listed the link to its website. Please refer to it and go to either STORE LOCATOR, FIND A STORE, etc. to find which store is the most convenient according to your place of residence. Also check out the maps; they can be very useful. The addresses listed below are the ones that we thought were most convenient based on their proximity to the CUA campus and metro or bus accessibility.

Depart from BROOKLAND-CUA Metro/Bus station and take a bus “H8” to MOUNT PLEASANT. Get off on NW PARK RD & NW 14th St. Then walk 2 blocks North on 14 ST NW.

You can find groceries, cleaning supplies, pharmacy and some stationary products in this store. Ask for a BONUS CARD that will allow you to take advantage of special sales and discounts. There is NO CHARGE for having a bonus card.

There is another Giant store in Silver Spring. You can take the Red line train towards Glenmont and get off at Silver Spring.

This store carries groceries, cleaning supplies, pharmacy and some stationary. As soon as you get there, ask for a SAFEWAY CLUB CARD that will allow you to take advantage of special sales and discounts. There is NO CHARGE for having a Safeway Club card card.

This store carries mainly pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. In addition, you can find cleaning supplies, some basic electronics items, such as fans and toasters, stationary, greeting cards, etc. One-hour photo services are available in most of the stores. Ask for a CVS ExtraCare Card that will allow you to take advantage of special sales and discounts. There is NO CHARGE for having a CVS ExtraCare Card.

This store specializes in healthy and organic food. Some items can be very pricey. Check the prices and compare with other stores before you decide to buy anything. It is a fun store - definitely worth a visit!

In this store, you can find clothing, electronics (e.g. TV’s, radios, fans), home supplies (e.g. pans, pots, mugs, cleaning devices) and some groceries at bargain prices.

During the summer and fall months, most neighborhoods have Farmers’ Markets where you can buy locally grown fresh produce, bread, and meat. Eastern Market in Capital Hill is centrally located and has its own Metro stop.

Please note that in the United States there's no real standard for sizing clothes, and the more expensive the clothes are, the smaller the sizes, i.e., a size 10 at K-Mart is probably the equivalent of a size 8 or 6 at Ralph Lauren.
