Position Overview

This position will supervise a group of analysts for compendia, material and drug product testing in a cGMP environment and will be required to develop resource plans that meet revenue goals with regards to safety, quality, output and cost. The supervisor will conduct investigations for OOS results, errors and deviations. The position requires regular communication with clients in a timely and professional manner. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring proper staff training and that deliverables are met or expectations are proactively managed towards alternative solutions.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage analysts across cross-functional chemistry groups (wet chemistry, GC, HPLC, and AA)
  • Monitor and manage sample duedates to ensure turn-around times are met for clients
  • Perform and write investigations and deviations
  • Communicate sample status between departments and with clients
  • Schedule, perform, monitor, and approve training
  • Schedule, review, monitor and approve repairs, installation of laboratory equipment
  • Work with Technical Specialist to review, approve, and monitor projects (verifications, validations, method transfers) cradle to grave
  • Author, revise, and approve SOPs, training procedures, Lab notes, and method modifications
  • Vast knowledge of wet chemistry techniques and instrumentation (TOC, Polarimeter, Refractive Index, KF, cKF, FTIR)
  • Experience with HPLC and GC preferred
  • In depth knowledge of compendia testing (USP, EP, JP, BP, FCC, ACS)
  • Interact with all departments
  • Participate in process improvement plans
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of Chromeleon and Empower chromatography software is desired
  • Experience with ELN or similar platforms.

Qualifications for success:

  • BS/MS in Chemistry or related field with 5+ years of experience in chromatography (HPLC and GC) techniques.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years in a cGMP laboratory, preferably pharmaceuticals.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • This position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, a thorough understanding of client management, and ability to train staff.
  • Experience in chromatography method development and validation, method verification and method transfer is desired.
