HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT (BHRM)

INTRODUCTION

The College of Business Administration (CBA) offers BBA in Human Resources Management. In this specialization students acquire the skills and knowledge to perform various HR functions such as demonstrate skills in all areas of human resource management, analyze HR systems in the UAE and international firms, formulate and implement HR strategies for the positioning of the firm, and evaluate HR systems.

A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management generally prepares individuals to manage the development of human capital in organizations. It also includes instruction in personnel and organization policy, human resource dynamics and flows, labor relations, gender roles, human resources law and regulations, motivation and compensation systems, work systems, career management, employee testing and assessment, recruitment and selection, managing employee and job training programs, and the management of human resources programs and operations.

  • Career in human resource management mostly starts with an entry level position as HR generalist or HR assistant. After gaining more experience, professionals can move into managerial positions in specialized areas.
  • Internships in human resources, training or organizational development are necessary to gain experience. Visit the Internship and Career Development Center (ICDC) at UD to know more about work placements during study and post graduation.
  • Participate in related co-curricular activities and obtain leadership positions to obtain skills.
  • Join professional organizations and network with HR practitioners.

The Occupational Handbooks are available as nine separate booklets (in accordance with UD programs namely Accounting, Finance & Banking, Marketing, Management, Human Resource Management, Business Economics, Supply Chain & Logistics, Entrepreneurship, and Computing & Information Systems). These booklets will serve as a road map for the students on the occupation choices available for the majors they would specialize in and will broaden their perspective on the skills which are required from them in each major. Furthermore, they identify training areas for the students in light of a particular job and highlight salary packages associated with each industry while making their career choices.   1. SIGI 3 – Self Assessment Software

SIGI 3 is well-known educational and career planning software that integrates self-assessment with in-depth and up-to-date career information. This software has been made available to UDstudents through the use of a username and password and students conduct assessments during their ‘Career Exploration’ Course and otherwise in the UD library. You may contact the ICDC for log in information.
