Hello,

What a fantastic first summer for Holiday Zone. Thank you to all parents, children and staff for your support. We have had an amazing time. The themed weeks went down well. I won’t be able to fit all of what we did but below is a highlight of what we got up to.

Activities

Week 1 was Under the sea. The kids enjoyed making fish out of cd’s, sharks out of paper plates and a trip to The Carrs.

Week 2 was Sci Fi week. We designed a robot. BottyLotty, designed by Olivia F, Isabel, Steph, Bella, Mia, Holly was joint first with the robot designed by Charlotte, Zara, Freya, Olivia D, Chloe and Ella. The kids worked really hard and enjoyed their ice creams as their prize! We had a trip to The Museum of Science and Industry on the train.

Week 3 was Charlie and the Chocolate factory. We had our very own Willy Wonka, Oliver Dunn, come along and do a chocolate workshop. I don’t know about the kids but Maxine, Donna and I were in heaven. We went chocolate hunting at The Carrs. More chocolate....

Week 4 was Pirates and Princess Week. We did our very own treasure hunt using maps designed by the kids. The fancy dress disco at the end of the week was enjoyed by all. Best dancer was Hannah Lowndes.

Week 5 was All about Animals. The older children enjoyed a day out at Crocky Trail whilst the younger ones enjoyed a trip to Stockley Farm. The Sun was shining and we all had a brilliant day.

Week 6 was Italy week. The children spent an afternoon at Pizza Express making their own pizzas. The end of summer party was lots of fun. The bouncy castle was a big hit.

Finally week 7 was only 2 days. The children picked their own theme which was Super Heroes!!!!

Our mascots-The chicks

We had our very own mascots this summer. Two little chicks named by the children, Bertie and Emily. They were very cute. The children enjoyed feeding and nurturing them. They finally went to a new home on a farm. We will miss you Bertie and Emily.

Staff and Training

A huge thank you to all the play workers who worked at Holiday Zone over the Summer. I know that some of you have ‘real’ jobs to go to in September but I’m lucky to have Donna and Maxine working for us over October Half term. Our new Deputy Manager for October is Carola Booth. She works for Wilmslow Prep’s after school club. She is Level 3 qualified in childcare.

Natalie has attended a 2 day paediatric first Aid course and has booked onto an Epi Pen course and EYFS course in October.

Natalie and Carola have attended a Food Hygiene course. We get our results next week. Wish us luck.

Donna, Natalie and Jess completed a safeguarding course and Maxine and Carola will be completing it before October half Term.

Thank you to all parents who paid via vouchers. I appreciate it was a little bit more complicated, as we were using Schools account. Our registration should be through any time and I will register with all childcare providers - they are all on standby!!

Unfortunately we didn’t get the website up and running but it will be by the end of next week. This will make it easier for communication and bookings. In the meantime you can follow us on Twitter: @MyHolidayZone.

We now have a mobile which is kept at the setting at all times. If you need to contact the setting during opening hours please call 07890986599. Alternatively you can contact Natalie 07805269443 anytime, or by emailusing

Star of the Day

At the end of every day, each play worker decides their star of the day, depending on how helpful and well behaved the children have been. The person to get the most stars of the day was Alex Moss. Your prize awaits you in October. Well done Alex!

We look forward to seeing all again soon.

Natalie and the Holiday Zone team.
