What a crazy winter it has been so far! With snow falling, arctic temperatures, and then the spring like temperatures, it is no wonder that we have had sniffles and coughs in our building. A few reminders on preventing the spread of germs. Please when you cough, cough into your sleeve on the inside of your elbow. Make sure you wash your hands a lot. Don’t share drinks, straws, etc. with others. If a fever is present, you shouldn’t come to school until the fever has been gone for 24 hours.

Last week Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, which means 6 more weeks of winter! Check the weather report and dress accordingly. We will be going outside for recess if the temperature is 20 degrees or higher, and the wind chill is 15 degrees or higher.

A survey was emailed out for all parents to take. This survey is from the Academic Excellence Committee of the Catholic Schools Council. This survey is important to take in helping St. Thecla formulate our strategic plan. The survey will be open until February 13th. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. The link can be found in the email or on the school website.

The forensics competition for the junior varsity team will be on February 10th here at St. Thecla. Let’s keep them in our prayers, as their hard work comes to fruition at the competition.

Lent is coming! Ash Wednesday this year is on February 14th which is also St. Valentine’s Day. We will be having our Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, and Valentine’s Day parties on Tuesday, February 13th. Watch for more information from your child’s teacher. Lent is a wonderful season during our liturgical year to share the concepts of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Consider how as a family, you may help others in need by giving of your time and or treasures. If your family does something you wish to share during Lent, feel free to post it on our Facebook using the hashtag #LiveYourBestLent.

Next, we will have two Masses. The first Mass is on Wednesday, February 14th and the second Mass is on Friday, February 16th. Both will be at 9:00. On the 16th, the celebrant will be our regional auxiliary bishop, Bishop Robert Fisher. (He is no relation to me).

Looking ahead we have NO SCHOOL on February 19th & 20th, and a $1 Jeans Day on February 21st.

Please remember to turn your 2018-2019 registration in to the School Office as soon as possible. A $50 registration discount will be given to families who register before March 1st.

Have a fantastic week!

God bless,

Mr. Fisher
