Boulder Capital plans for mixed use development

Nursery to be owned by Wayne and Peter Mezitt

HOPKINTON, Mass., December 6, 2006 – As part of the reorganization plan it submitted on December 1, 84- year old Weston Nurseries of Hopkinton, Mez-Ag and Roger and Wayne Mezitt have signed a letter of intent with Boulder Capital to develop a portion of the land the nursery currently sits on. The partnership will bring together a beloved local institution known for its horticultural expertise with one of the region’s leading developers and landscape architectural firms.

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with Roy MacDowell and Boulder Capital at this very important juncture for our company,” said Gary Furst, president and CEO,Weston Nurseries of Hopkinton. “Roy is a visionary, skilled developer who is committed to working collaboratively with the Mezitt family, town officials and the community as we move through a deliberate master planning process that will ensure the continued viability of our operations and an appropriate development for the town.”

The letter of intent calls for the sale of 742 acres to Boulder Capital. A master plan will be developed for the land that currently contemplates a development that could include a mix of residential units, condominiums—possibly age-restricted-- retail and potentially institutional or commercial uses. Weston Nurseries—both the retail operation and acreage for growing-- will continue to operate on 150 acres of land.Weston Nurseries will be owned by Wayne and Peter Mezitt.

In getting to this point, Furst commended brothers Roger and Wayne Mezitt. “Both sides of the family worked very hard to make this happen. I applaud them for taking the long view of what is best for their family, the business and its employees, and for the town,” he said. The company will emerge from bankruptcy protection with virtually no debt.
