West Norfolk Hunt Branch

September 2015

Dear Member

What a summer we have had, from the youngest show jumping teams and mini One Day Event competitors to the Area and then the Championship teams! We have never qualified so many riders for the Championships in so many disciplines: Dressage, Show Jumping, and Eventing - all who performed well and made me very proud to be your D.C.

On the home front the summer show jumping and dressage club after school on Wednesdays and the unmounted Tet rallies at the Grange by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Anthony Ringer were a great success which we hope to repeat next year and we had lots of rallies, One Day Events, a Tetrathalon and rides and three excellent camps. It was great to see so much improvement in all the ponies and riders. Over the coming months we are planning to run lots of Pony Club Achievement Test rallies for those working towards their D, D+, C, C+ and B Test aiming to take the tests next Spring and Summer, please speak to Janis Young our chief instructor if you are not sure how it works or which you should do.

I can’t stress strongly enough that our Pony Club only survives on an army of willing and tireless volunteers who give up their time to run, help and organise all the rallies, competitions, events and camps. Without them, none of these things would be possible. They all have families, jobs and hectic lives too but they still give up their time to help, so that all of our children can benefit. The pony club is run for the good of all and never for the individual needs of one person. I now would like to ask that every parent please volunteer to help with at least one event a year so that we can run a programme of events for all ages each holiday. It is only when you have run an event you appreciate how time consuming it is and the energy and patience that is needed and can then appreciate that we should all treat each other with respect, kindness and good manners at all times regardless of which ride or group your child is put in.

To celebrate the end of the season we are having an End of Season Party and Prizegiving evening at Rudham Village Hall on Friday 23rd October and I really hope to see you all there. We will provide drinks and nibbles and look forward enjoying a sociable evening together. There will be a raffle and all pony club members that attend will receive a free ticket to win a number of lovely prizes including saddlery vouchers. I will also award the Bursaries which give your child free lessons with instructors so make sure you get your entries in as soon as possible. We will also award Cups, rosettes and prizes, for effort and achievement over the year but in order to win you must be there!
