Training opportunity: Exercise prescription for falls prevention / In 2009-10 Aged Care Branch funded Monash University to develop and trial an education and training package for undergraduate and post graduate students in exercise prescription for falls prevention. The training package was trialed with postgraduate students with a relevant tertiary degree in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, exercise physiology and medicine. The trial used two modes of delivery - face to face and on-line. The results from both were comparable.
Monash University has applied to the Department of Health for a licence to deliver the training and the first course will be offered in July 2011.
If you wish to register for this training course please go to: Follow the link to 'Exercise Prescriptionfor Falls Prevention Resource' for a description of the program. At the bottom of the page is a link 'To register' where your details can be filled out and payments processed.
Applicants should be aware there are specific prerequisites for this course, such as having a relevant Australian tertiary degree.
