Dear Parents
Another year draws to a close and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the children for their hard work, thank all the parents/carers for their support and thank governors and staff for everything they do to make school happy and successful. We are one big team and I’m very privileged to belong to Team Front Street!
Baby News!
Congratulations to Mrs Apomah who has given birth to a baby girl – Maggie Rose. Both are doing well and we are delighted with this wonderful news.
Attendance
Well Done to the 125 children who received a 100% Attendance for this term.
Back by popular demand will be the weekly class attendance award in the New Year.
Tyne Tees Television
On Monday TTT visited school and interviewed some children about Christmas. This will be aired we think next Friday (23rd) on the 6pm local ITV news.
Choir
A huge well done to Front Streets choir. Over the last term our choir have taken part in Angels of the North, Outright, pre-nativity peformances and the Metrocentre competition.
They have given up their Thursday evenings to practise. Miss Donkin, Miss Walker and Miss Scott have thoroughly enjoyed working with the choir and would like to continue our choir rehearsals on a Thursday evening from Thursday 12th January 3:30pm-4:30pm
If any children within years 5 and 6 would like to join, please see Miss Donkin.
Tennis Years 1 - 6
Tennis after school club will start next term on Wednesdays from 3:30 – 4:30pm, week beginning 9th January for 11 weeks. The cost of the club is £49.50, please sign and return the slip below, together with payment if you would like your child to attend.
In Our Thoughts
We are sending our love to the Archer Family at this sad time. Mrs Archer did an awful lot for Front Street as Governor and Friend of Front Street. We appreciated her involvement and support. Our thoughts are with all of the Archer family.
Nursery
Thank you to everyone who has supported us this term. We have really enjoyed getting to know all of the children. We hope you have enjoyed the Christmas performances. We were very proud of each and every child for doing so well and being so brave! They all loved their Christmas parties and the visit from Santa went down very well! Have a lovely Christmas and if you can remember to collect small empty water bottles we would love to have some in the first week back! Thanks!
Reception
Well done to Reception for their first term in full time education! Reception have settled very well into school-life and we are very proud of class 1 and class 2.
Our gymnastics PE sessions on a Thursday morning will continue from Thursday 12th January. We would like our children to keep their PE kits in school and change themselves independently. In preparation for this during the holidays please encourage your child to dress themselves independently or with a little help as possible.
Year 3/4
To launch our new Egyptian topic, we need lots of cheap toilet roll! We need it for the lesson on Wednesday 4th January. After the holidays, the children will have PE on Monday (indoor) and Wednesdays (outdoor). Please make sure your child has appropriate NAMED clothing.
Year 4
In a first for our school, Year 4 have achieved their Bronze Award on the recorder a term early, WELL DONE! Next term they will be working towards their Silver Award.
Reminders
Key Stage 2 finish at 3.20pm after Christmas.
On behalf of everyone at Front Street I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for 2017. I hope Santa is good to you all and you all have a lovely Christmas break. I look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday 3rd January. HJ Gladstone

Winter Term round up!
Phew what a busy term this has been!
This term we were able to run the first disco in our new school, provide refreshments and tuck at school events, organise charity bake sales; we have our first ever Christmas fair in our school, run the Christmas raffle and provided tuck shops for our children’s Christmas performances.
None of this would be possible without the ongoing support of parents, families, local businesses, school staff and our children. Not forgetting the army of volunteers that help organise, set up and run all these events in school.
You will all be very pleased to read that the Christmas fair and raffle raised £1,820 for our school!!! We cannot thank all the businesses and families enough for all the donations which contributed enormously to this grand total! Over the whole term we have be able to fundraise approximately £2,500 and we look forward to speaking with Mrs Gladstone in the New Year on how this money can be spent on the school and our children’s education.
