Review Biomes
Station 1
Welcome to the Jungle!!
Explore
ACROSTIC! For each letter in the word Tropical Rainforest, write a piece of information about this biome. Think about the location, climate, vegetation, wildlife, parts of this biome, etc. There are only 3 rules:
- Work in pairs or 3s within your “group” at this station. Your acrostics should NOT be identical, but you may work to help each other when you get stuck.
- Make sure to include USEFUL information. For example, if you use “Rainfall” for the letter R, be sure to tell how much; if you name an animal, include at least a word or two about what the animal is (Is it a large bird? An amphibian?)
- You MUST include the 4 layers of the rainforest somewhere in this acrostic.
Station 2
The Dry, Dry Desert
- Go to
- Take turns reading “What is a Desert Like?” out loud from the web page. Fill in the blanks in your worksheet as you read.
- Go to the types of deserts link on the left side of the web page.
- Pick a stick from the box on the table (try not to peek). If you pick a red stick, you will work with hot deserts; if you draw a blue stick, you will work with cold deserts.
- Choose one desert from the charts on the “hot deserts” or “cold deserts” links on this page, depending on your stick color.
- Draw a picture, labeling the things found in your desert OR create a graphic organizer expressing these same topics.

- Each group member should choose a “scroll” from the can on the table in front of you. Each “scroll” is a blank word quilt. Unroll your quilt and use the website to answer the questions or sill in the information requested. You can write or draw – YOUR CHOICE! (If you draw, please label your drawing.)
For example, if a space on the word quilt says, “bird,” you will draw or write about a bird found in the type of wetland you chose.
BE CREATIVE – and NEAT!
4. Cut out your word quilt and paste it onto a piece of colored construction paper.

NEXT:
- Make up 10 trivia questions from the information you find on this site (explore BEYOND just the two sections you just visited).
- Write each question on a index card. They should be multiple choice questions (choices should go on the front of the card), OR questions with 1-2 word answers.
- Write the correct answer on the back of the card.
- Include AT LEAST ONE question on each of the following topic
- Climate
- Location
- Vegetation (plants)
- Wildlife
- Types of grasslands.
One Rule:
You may NOT use any of the questions that appear on the website!
BE CREATIVE! Think like you are a teacher making up questions for a quiz, or a game-maker creating questions for a trivia game.
When you finish with this station, place your index cards in the box by the attendance sticks.
