WELCOME TO THE CAMBRIDGE YOUTH SOCCER CLUB!

We are thankful and delighted you’ve decided to join us. The purpose of this manual is to explain the basic workings of Cambridge Youth Soccer (CYS) and provide you with materials to make your job easier. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT!

Mission

CYS exists to provide opportunities for youth in the Cambridge/Jeffersonville area to learn soccer and personal development through participation in soccer.

Vision

Our vision is to become a model small-town soccer program, providing safe, enjoyable and educational soccer experiences to maximize participation while also allowing our athletes to develop soccer knowledge and skills equal or superior to other comparable towns. We will develop instruction and facilities to teach technical skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, personal and character development, along with a lifelong love of soccer and physical activity in general.

STRUCTURE OF THE CSC

  1. PLAYERS. First and foremost the CSC is dedicated to providing a great soccer experience for our players. We have regularly held programs for all of the elementary school student ages (K-6th grade)and during the spring season may add teams for players up to 14 or even 16 years old. We typically register about 150 players for our fall season and 60-75 for the spring.
  2. PARENTS. We cannot do what we do without good parental support. We rely on parents to transport players to practices and games, and assist with such tasks as field preparation, concessions for jamborees, fundraising, plus of course in many cases serve as coaches, assistants or board members.
  3. COACHES. The majority of our coaches are parents, but we are always open to other individuals from the community with an interest in soccer. Prior soccer experience is helpful but not mandatory. An interest in the game and working with kids are the most important qualifications. We can pair you with an experienced coach and/or assist you in finding workshops or other training opportunities.
  4. OFFICIALS. Most of our referees are local people who love the game of soccer. Some have extensive experience and others are young players just learning to officiate. PLEASE be patient and tolerant with them, and encourage all players, parents and others to treat them with respect even if you feel they may have made a mistake, which is part of the game!
  5. BOARD MEMBERS. CYS is a non-profit organization with bylaws and a Board of Directors. Please feel free to contact any one of us with questions or concerns. The 2011-12 Board members are:
