Welcome to the 2016 Goondiwindi Showgirl Awards

Please find all the relevant information you will require to get started in the competition.

  • Please ensure that the letter of endorsement from the Showgirl Committee is displayed at all times whilst fundraising.
  • If seeking corporate sponsorship with businesses, please consult with Michelle or Kerri first to ensure this business is not already sponsoring other entrants and/or the Show Society and that you have a well-planned business proposal so they are getting value for money.
  • If you have to withdraw from the competition after funds have been raised, on the basis of the funds being collected on the Showgirl Committee’s behalf, these funds will be deposited into the Showgirl Account and you will still qualify for the title of Miss Charity. By signing the nomination form you will be entering into this agreement.
  • When seeking donation of goods from business houses please also run this by Michelle or Kerri as we will then supply you with a Showgirl letterhead and also advise if this business is sponsoring another girl or show competition.
  • Questionnaire for the Argus and Judges Panel: A questionnaire will be supplied to you for completion in March, 2016. This questionnaire will be the basis for your Show Guide Coverage as well as your written introduction to the judges panel.
  • Day of Judging: You will be required on Saturday the 16th of April for judging and an awards dinner. The judging will require smart dress in which you would generally expect to see at an interview. Please join the Showgirl Awards Event on Facebook (which is a closed group for entrants only, photos will be available for perusal in this file)
  • Awards Dinner: We ask that you invite your friends and family to come and support you. Tickets are $40.00per person. As an entrant you will receive a complimentary ticket for yourself. We appreciate early bookings however we bookings finalised by Saturday the 9th of April. The dress attire for this is Cocktail/Lounge Suit.
  • Announcements: Miss Showgirl and the Junior Miss Showgirl will be announced at the Awards Dinner, Miss Personality “The Communities Choice” and Miss Charity will be announced Friday the 29th at the Goondiwindi Show.
  • The Show: 29th & 30th April: We will also ask that all entrants retrospective of receiving a title attend the show to experience a hands experience to what the P&A and Showgirl Competition involves.

In completing the below I have read and understand the terms and conditions of entry of the Showgirl Awards. Therefore I wish to nominate for the 2016 Goondiwindi Pastoral & Agricultural Showgirl Awards which are being held on Saturday the 16th of April, 2016.

I understand I will be required for judging both during the day and in the evening of the 16th and if successful in the senior competition of “2016 Banaba Blinds Miss Showgirl” I will be required to represent Goondiwindi at the Sub Chamber competition in Toowoomba in 2017.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1.If Entering the Senior Competition: Entrants must be single (in the tradition form of not married), aged 18 years and under 28 years on the 1st August in the year of the State competition. The Awards are open to girls born in Australia or naturalised Australians.

2.If Entering the Junior Section: Entrants must be aged between 14 years and under 18 years on the 16th of April the year of the Local competition.

3.The ultimate winner must remain single (being not married) until the conclusion of the Royal Queensland Show. Entrants must not have been married or have had or having a child prior to State Final Judging.

4.An entrant must have been selected as a current representative of the Miss Showgirl Awards conducted by an affiliated Society to be eligible to compete in Sub-Chamber and State Final Judging. In the event of the local representative being unable to attend sub-chamber judging and a runner-up had been selected then she may do so. Previous State Winners and State Runners-Up in the Miss Showgirl Awards are not eligible to enter again. Local and Sub-Chamber Winners and Runners-Up may enter again providing they are not State Winners.

5. Prospective entrants who are employed or are still in fulltime studies are advised to ascertain in advance that they are able to obtain leave of absence to attend Sub-Chamber and State Final judging if necessary. The State finalists will be required to be in Brisbane the day prior to and the first three (3) days of the Royal Queensland Show. The ultimate Miss Showgirl winner must remain in Brisbane to perform official duties up till and including the ‘People’s Day’ holiday of the Royal Queensland Show.

6State Finalists must participate as a group in the entire itinerary; otherwise they must withdraw from the contest.

7Should an entrant enter and win a prize or title and does not abide by the above conditions, she will not be eligible for further participation in the Miss Showgirl Awards and will automatically forfeit all prizes and title associated with the Miss Showgirl Awards.

8Entrants must accept that any behaviour that will bring disrepute to the Miss Showgirl Awards and is deemed inappropriate by the Showgirl Committee, prior to or during the State Finals, may forfeit their right to participate.
