SPRING SOCCER 2008 --- KINDERGARTEN

Welcome to Spring Soccer 2008! We are scheduled to start our league on Saturday, April 19 and games will be played at the Sports Complex east of the High School on Thursday’s & Saturday’s. As we head into the season here are some guidelines to follow:

1)Do not park on the grass by the Soccer Fields. All vehicles must stay in the designated parking lot.

2)Kindergarten will be playing on soccer field #6 and will use this field for the whole season. When you face north, field #6 is the southeastern most field.

3)We will meet on Thursday’s and Saturday’s (weather permitting). On Thursday’s we will start with 15 minutes of drills and then hold a shortened 45 min. game. Saturday’s are designated game days for the league. Make sure to follow your schedule closely to see what time you play and what field you play on.

4)This season there are 4 teams in the Kindergarten League. During league games there will be 6 players on the field from each team and our goal is for the kids to learn and have fun. There will be no goalie and the kids will rotate regularly. Game scores and league standings will not be kept and we will not place an emphasis on winning and losing. We will encourage participation as well as the very basic rules and fundamentals of soccer.

5)On Saturday, April 19, all soccer league members will meet from 10:30-11:30 to meet their coaches, fellow teammates, receive team t-shirts, and have a team photo taken. When you get to the soccer fields, look for your coach on field #6 wearing your team colored t-shirt. You can find out who your coach is and your team color by looking at the reverse side of this sheet, it is displayed at the top of your team list. It is required that you wear your team colored shirt every time you attend soccer and wear tennis shoes or cleats (not metal). It also recommended, not required, to wear shin guards.

6)Practices and games will start on time,we will not wait for you to start.

7)In case of bad weather we will try to call school on Thursday’s and let the kids know before they are dismissed if soccer is cancelled. We will also send out e-mail updates to those of you who provided us their e-mail addresses. If you would still like to be added to the list, e-mail us at . On both Thursday’s and Saturday’s, cancellations will also be announced on the radio (1090 AM or 93.9 FM). The first rain out will be made up this year and any rain outs after the first will be cancelled.
