Algebra

Welcome to Mrs. Cox’s Algebra class. We will be learning a lot of math, so come prepared to LEARN!!

Course Format: The majority of the information in this course will come from example worked on the board accompanied with explanations, group work, and homework.

Course Outline: My tentative outline is:

1st Trimester Chapters 1- 4

2nd Trimester Chapters 5 – 8

3rd Trimester Chapters 9-12

Daily Homework Assignments: Class work and/ or homework will be assigned daily.

***All work (homework, test, quizzes) must be done in pencil.***

Makeup Work: It is the student’s responsibility to find out what assignment(s) they miss when absent and to make up the work. Students will have two days to make up the work for each day absent. Late work will not be accepted.

Tests: Tests will be announced at least three days ahead of time. If a test is missed due to absence, the student should schedule a make-up test with me, and that test should be taken within 2 weeks of the original test.

Quizzes: Quizzes will be given throughout the year to allow me to evaluate the student’s progress before taking a major test. These may be unannounced; therefore students should be prepared daily.

Supplies: Each student should have notebook paper, pencils, box of tissue, and black Expo makers

Class Rules: All school rules and the rules that follow;

3.  Come to class ready to learn and participate

·  Be on time to class

·  Bring your book, homework, pencil and paper to class everyday

·  No cell phones at any time in the classroom

Grading: You will have homework assignments, daily warm ups, quizzes and test to complete during the year. Your final grade for Algebra is calculated as follows;

50% Tests 20% Quizzes

10 % Class work/ group work 20% Homework
