Kent Pétanque League

To clubsecretaries and captains of league teams 9 March 2016

Welcome everyone to the Kent Petanque Summer League for 2016.

New Season Divisions

Please find attached the new Divisions for the forthcoming season. We have lost oneteam this year from the league–Istead Jacques. On the positive side I welcomea second Sidcup team Sidcup Rollers to join a renamed Sidcup Reckers (was Sidcup), two new Railway teams Railway Rising and Railway Rockets, and a new team at Meadow club who will be known as Star Meadow 2 (Star Meadow become Star Meadow 1).

Duke of Welly Fighting Cocks have moved to Railway and become Railway Roosters. Whitstable Nomads become Whitstable Natives, Villager 1 become Villager Idiots, Villager 2 become Villager Legends and Villager 3 become Villager Vikings.

This year we will have 6 divisions of 10 teams each, plus onedivision of 9 teams.

As a result of the new teamsas well as normal promotion and relegation there are a number of additional changes to the leagues in divisions 6 and 7. As I say, the new league divisions are attached below.

Cup

The traditional season opener, the preliminary cup round is on the 30th March 2016. As last year the cup will be played early in the season and I intend to continue with the semi finals and finals being played on Thursdays. I will plan a “spare” date this year. The detailed dates will soon be available on the website,as will the preliminary round draw for the cup. I also attach the cup preliminary round draw to this email.

Results

The requirements for results, as last year, are as follows:-

  1. Results are to be entered on the electronic scorecard on the KPA website. Both captains will receive a copy automatically.
  2. The captains should check all details and ensure corrections are made where necessary
  3. Scores should be notified by the home team within 48 hours of the fixture, failing which the home team may lose its score

Final Results

I will accept results posted up until the 48 hours after the final scheduled fixtures.

The final scheduled day of the season is 28th September, and I will therefore accept results that are entered on the system anytime up to midnight on 30th September 2016.

League Handicapped Tournament

The tournament is this year scheduled for Sunday 25th September 2016 and will be held at Gravesend RFC. Put this date in your diary now. There are plenty of prizes on offer and invariably this is an enjoyable occasion for all who take part.

Fixtures

I am in the course of designing the fixtures lists. I expect to have these sent out by the end of next week at the latest, and finalised on the web pages soon after that.

In the meantime please let me know if you spot any errors in the divisional make-up, and those that have not submitted their player list, please do so asap.

Note, we do have some juniors playing in the league, so if there are any restrictions at your venue concerning under 18s, please let me know if you haven’t already done so.

New Format

This year, as you know, we are playing matches in a new format of triples and doubles. This is a trial for this season which will be reviewed at the AGM in November.

Rule Changes

There were a number of changes made to the rules at the AGM and EGM. Please refer to these rules on the website. The changes are highlighted in red for your convenience.

I wish you all an enjoyable season. Please scroll down for the new season’s divisions.

Yours faithfully,

Mick Nash,

Secretary, Kent Petanque League
