Free School Milk

Free School Milk is provided to all children until their 5th birthday and to those children who are eligible for Premium Free School Meals (not Universal FSM). If you would like your child to have milk please register and pay on-line at

We are looking for an after school cleaner, if you are interested please telephone the school .

Attendance

Regular attendance at school is essential. Keeping your child off school with minor ailments such as a headache or slight cold is not acceptable. If your child is away from school for any reason we need to know why. Please telephone the school before 9.00 am and send a brief note when they return to school. Telephone: 01604 633894

We will have no hesitation in ‘coming to get you’ if we have concerns over your attendance.

EVERY MINUTE COUNTS …

Missing one day a week of school from Reception to Year 10 means missing two years and one term of schooling.

Remember if your child is ill you must phone the school on the first day of illness. A note must then be sent in to the Teacher when your child returns to school.

Holidays

Term Time holidays will NOT be authorised. If there are extenuating circumstances please come in and speak to Mrs. Lapsa.

A fine may be charged by the local authority for failure to comply.

Helping your child succeed at school

Please read with your child EVERY day.

Support your child with their homework.

Help your child learn their times tables.

Encourage your child to do some writing at home

Parking

Parents are reminded NOT to park or wait on the yellow hatching

outside the school gates, these need to be clear at all times for access by emergency vehicles should the need arise – DO NOT PUT THE CHILDRENS HEALTH AND SAFETY AT RISK.

Please also be courteous to the local residents and do not park in their reserved parking areas.

P.E Kit reminder

Please make sure that you find out when your child has P.E. and then make sure that you provide them with, and remind them to bring in, their kit on the appropriate day/s. Children need a white T-shirt, shorts (black or blue) and plimsolls/trainers. In the Winter children need a suitable tracksuit for outdoor games.

Universal Free School Meals

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Free School Meals. You MUST register and ORDER your child’s meal at

Premium Free School Meals

You may be entitled to FSM because you receive certain benefits, please pop into school to complete a form if you believe you are eligible. If you are eligible the school will offer you a VernonTerraceSchool fleece for your child.

Vernon Vipers……Are Back!!!

Vernon vipers football team started on Tuesday 9 September open to both boys and girls. They will meet at the school office at 3.15pm and walk to the local PDC Sports. Further information is available from School Reception.

Breakfast Club

This is held every morning from 8.00 to 8.45am. A place where your child can enjoy a healthy breakfast and some fun activities all for just £1.00 per day!

CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ADMITTED BEFORE 8AM AND ANYONE ARRIVING AFTER 8.15 AM WILL NOT BE FED BUT WILL BE EXPECTED TO PAY. THE SCHOOL INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER CHILDREN ON SITE BEFORE 8.00 AM

School Uniform

Thank you to all those parents who send their children to school dressed in their school uniform.

It is important that all the children wear the school uniform, THIS INCLUDES SHOES NOT TRAINERS, if you are in doubt as to what this is please come to the Main Reception and ask for a uniform leaflet.

ALL ITEMS OF SCHOOL UNIFORM SHOULD BE CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD’S FULL NAME.

Please also note HAIR – no shaved patterns, no hair dye, no Mohicans (gelled or not).

“New Free School Proposal”

EMLC, the leadership and school improvement charity and academy sponsor in Northampton, is delighted to propose the development of an all-through academy on the former Royal Mail site, off Barrack Road.It is keen to hear from parents of primary school students currently in Year 4 and 5, as they will be of secondary school age within the first two years of the school opening in September 2016.
