Welcome Back, a Warm Welcome to our NEW CUBS and Cubs Moving On to Scouts

Welcome back to all our Cubs and a very warm welcome to our new Cubs – Katie Tallis and Sam Gillham and to Charlie, Kaiyan and Leo who are moving on from Beavers. We know that you will all have a great time in Cubs. Welcome! Millie & Juliette moved on during the Summer Term and George, Keira, George and James are moving on to Scouts this month. We know that you will have an amazing time in the Scout Troop. Enjoy!

Blackland Farm Cub Summer Camp 2017

One of our best Summer Camps with superb food - thanks Matt and Jo! - and a brilliant non stop action packed programme of activities both on and off site with the favourite again being the giant water slide!

Thank you to those Cubs and parents who took the time to send e mails and handwritten cards, letters and gifts to express their thanks – they are always much appreciated and it is good to hear the highlights from the Cubs themselves. Our Cubs always return much more independent and able to look after themselves.

Please encourage them in this as it helps them to get the most out of Scouting and life…………

Beaver and Cub places available NOW! – visit our web site - “Joining Us”

There are just 4 places left in Beavers and Cubs and when they are gone, they are gone!

If you know a young person keen to become a Beaver or Cub, to make friends, have fun AND go to our amazing camps, please refer their parents to the “Joining Us” button on our web site or contact me direct.

Our Two Week Half Term – No meetings on Tuesday 24th and 31st October

Many of you will know Kritin who is part of the Scout Troop Leader Team and also helps out at Cubs from time to time. He is getting married in India and several members of the 25th Purley Leader Team have been invited. For this year only, there will be a 2 week half term break. Please make a note in your diaries NOW!

Woodcote Green, Green Fingered Scheme Vouchers – deadline for return is 26/9

Please bring along any remaining vouchers that you have collected for us by Tuesday 26th September.

Smartening up!

We’re proud of our uniform and at the 25th Purley we expect everyone to look smart - every week.

Scarves should be washed, steam ironed flat and then tightly rolled so there are 3 “V’s” at the front.

Trainers are practical for meetings but we expect school shoes to be worn for our parades.

Available NOW! – Good quality second hand uniform and casual clothing

Donations can be brought along to any of our Section meetings and are warmly welcomed.

Don’t buy new uniform without first checking with Gill Powell who looks after our second hand shop!

We have loads of good quality items that are kindly donated by parents and we are keen to see more families taking advantage of our bargains. Click on “Key Forms / Docs” to find out more and to contact Gill direct.

Harvest Festival Church Parade, Sunday 8th October

We expect all our families to support our parades by attending regularly and look forward to an excellent turnout on every occasion. Apologies for absence are a courtesy and should be given by the Friday beforehand. Meet at 9am in the foyer in full, smart uniform with shoes polished and scarves ironed and tightly rolled. Harvest Gifts of cans and packet food ie non perishables, are most welcome.

Remembrance Sunday, 12th November at Woodcote Village Green at 10.30am

Every member of the Beaver Colony, Cub Pack, Scout Troop is expected to attend. If your child plays sport on a Sunday, please give apologies to the team manager now and explain that your child is taking part in the annual Remembrance Sunday Parade with their Scout Group. We expect a 100% turnout.

Best Wishes, Barbara McKinnon, “Akela”.
