Course Objective / : / This course aims at developing a solid understanding of the strategic importance of operations and how operations can provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace; understanding the relationships between the operations and other business functions; and developing an insight of designing and managing operations, and the related techniques.
Course Learning Outcomes / : / Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1)define the basic concepts and strategies of Operations Management,
2)define the problems of Operations Management in different business areas.
3)interpret the solutions of the Operations Management problems for practical purposes.
4)apply mathematical techniques used in Operations Management,
5)predict the implications of strategic and tactical decisions on the company’s success.
Course Content
(Short definition) / : / The main emphasis of the course is given on the topics: Production systems, Operations management functions, production planning, inventory management, design of goods and services, process and product strategies, capacity planning, location analysis, and layout strategies.
