Science / Plan electric circuit investigations to consolidate current electrical knowledge
Build on understand of electricity and approaches to working scientifically
/ Generate and test a series of scientific enquiries that explore electrical circuits and various effects
Accurately record results using tables/graphs, noting any correlations / Use knowledge of circuit diagrams to identify those circuits which will and won’t work, justifying their reasons for these
Research and explain why electrical components behave the way they do in terms of resistance
/ Investigate, design and produce a working dimmer switch
Describe the operation of a dimmer switch and how it affects resistance / Design, build and test a working circuit
Provide explanations as to how different electrical components work
Select appropriate batteries based on voltage / Present, discuss and evaluate findings in a presentation
Identify any causal relationships and scientific evidence that has been used to support or refute ideas and arguments
History / Identify different features within a piece of artwork and explain what the artist way trying to tell us about the railways of the past and present
/ Find out about, and debate, the positive and negative impact of the first railways on different aspects of society / Describe the technology of different locomotives and explain how and why they have changed over time / Investigate life in Britain before railways – transport, food, clothing and education. Compare and contrast to modern equivalents
/ Explore the role that railways played in the industrial revolution, and consider the impact that they had on British industry / Identify how the growth of the industrial revolution changed land use in Britain, focusing on industrialisation of the countryside and pollution from consumption of natural resources

Art / Investigate some examples of railway art and learn about how the artists used perspective to create depth
Experiment with perspective and the ‘vanishing point’ / Begin preliminary sketches of railway paintings
Explore composition of a painting and division of the page or canvas / Use light and shade to create the appearance of 3D objects
Discuss each other’s’ work through group ‘crits’ to offer constructive advice
/ Begin final sketches of railway paintings
Use a ‘sunshine’ symbol to remind where the light and shade needs to be in their image / Practice painting ‘details’ of a particular part of a painting
Incorporate accurate colour mixing to add realism and texture to the painting / Apply finishing touches to railway paintings, collate into a larger piece
PE / Basketball
Continue to build understanding of the rules of the sport
Develop the ability to dribble legally and efficiently
/ Basketball
Develop the ability to pass quickly and effectively
Develop the ability to shoot accurately and effectively / Basketball
Develop the ability to defend effectively as in individual and as a team
Use defence and attack to prevent opposition from scoring / Parkour
Build understanding of the basics and purpose of Parkour
Learn the mechanics of how to ‘precision jump’ from a set point to a set point
/ Parkour
Develop ability to maintain balance whilst moving
Practice the ‘freeze’, come up with as many different variations as possible / Parkour
Learn the ‘leap of faith’, experimenting with ways of clearing an obstacle whilst moving
Demonstrate skill progression by combining previous skills into ‘the jam’
