Attendance Awards
We will be celebrating 100% attendance on Friday 23rd December by y awarding certificates. Parents and carers will be invited if their children are receiving an award.
Washacre Eco Team
Eco Team would like to thank Mrs Lowe, Mrs Hayes, Mrs Poundall and Mrs Greaves for all their work in helping to plan and deliver the planting project in our school grounds. With their help the Eco Team were able to get free trees from the tree council, clear the boundary of the field and plant new deciduous trees.
Reading Workshop
Reading workshop for Y3 parents and carers on Tuesday 22ndNovember at 3.15pm. Not sure how to help your child with reading? Not sure how often to hear them read? Come along and talk with Mrs Kneafcy.
Maths stay and play for parents, carers and children on Friday 25th November 9-10am. Due to demand the staff are hosting another of our very successful stay and play Maths workshops, so come along and have some fun with numbers.
Westhoughton Lights Switch on Friday 25th November.
This should be a good night. There is a service in St Bartholomew’s church. Singing from the Washacrechoir and then the lights switch on.
School Clubs
Last day for this terms clubs is the 9th December. In the new year we will send out new club lists and application forms. Limited availability mean places will be allocated on a ‘first come first served’ which due to high demand means that the forms will need to be returned the following day in order to secure a place.
Bikeability for Year 5
Bikeability is taking place on Monday and Tuesday the 5th & 6th December all morning. Year 5 parents and carers, please make sure that your children have a working bike and a helmet for this.
Book Fair all week commencing Monday 12th December.
Books and stationary will be on sale every day after school so do come and take a look.

Christmas lunch
Christmas lunchwill be served on Friday 23rdDecember at a cost of £1.25 for KS2 for those children who pay for meals, and £1.90 for Nursery Children.
End of Term
We break up at 3.15pm on the 23rd December and return on
Tuesday 10th January 2017. /
Fashion Show and Clothing Sale
Thursday 1st December 6-8pm.Crèche for children.
This is the first time Friends of Washacre have hosted such a night. So show your support by coming along. It’s going to be lots of fun for ladies. You can try before you buy and also enjoy the show whilst we take care of your children in the crèche. Tickets are just £1 each. There will be a Christmas stall, face painting, refreshments and clothing for sale.
Christmas Plays and Concerts to look forward to
KS2 Christmas Concert 15th December 2pm and again at 6pm. We will release more information and tickets nearer the time.
KS1 Christmas Play on Tuesday 20th December 2pm and again 6pm. We will release more information and tickets nearer the time.
EYFS (Reception class) Nativity play on Thursday 22nd December at 2pm. We will release more information and tickets nearer the time.
We are starting to prepare for the Christmas fair and so would like a little help from you in the form of donations.
  • Dress down day- in exchange for a bottle of something for the tombola – Friday 25th November
  • Dress down day – in exchange for a Christmas cracker on Friday 2nd December.
  • Dress down day – in exchange for gifts for the tombola on Friday 9th December.

Year 1 are looking for donations of Lego and Super Hero costumes for next half term. Mrs Briffa and Mrs Youngman will be grateful of any items received.

Please can all Year 2 children remember to bring their Wellies with them on Monday as they will be outside exploring habitats.
