Job Description
To work with the Business Development Team assisting the hosting and delivery of weddings, conferences and other events for York Venues. Ensuring the successful operational delivery and consistently maintaining and managing excellent customer service at all times.
Casual Workers are employed on an “as and when” basis, and may cover any of the above events. Whilst the Trust is not obliged to offer any work, Casuals equally are not obliged to fulfil any shifts offered.
Casual Wedding & Events Hostsneed to be flexible and willing to work weekends and evenings in particular.
Core Responsibilities
Event Hosting
Engage, welcome, inform and orientate clients during weddings and events across all sites.
Demonstrate understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the special needs of disabled clients and clients with diverse cultural backgrounds.
To work regular weddings and events, over the York Venues portfolio assisting in the hosting and management of the event; ensuring constant care and attention is paid to clients whilst delivering excellent customer service.
To liaise with all members of the Business Development Team, including the operations team; to ensure information recorded and delivered correctly and promptly to enable York Venues to continue to deliver the high quality of service customers expect.
Safety
Maintain a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures, including First Aiders and evacuation procedures.
Help to maintain a clean and orderly environment, working in conjunction with our catering and cleaning partners to ensure all our sites sustain a high level of cleanliness and organisation.
Other
Staff must be smartly dressed whilst on duty, except where protective clothing is needed. (Personal protective equipment will be supplied).
You will be required to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
You may from time to time be required to undertake such other duties of a similar nature which fall within the job purpose outlined above and which are consistent with the grading of the post. / Key Results
Clients are welcomed and engaged initially and throughout all weddings and events.
Clients with special needs and diverse cultural backgrounds are cared for and feel welcomed.
Client satisfaction, smooth operational delivery and working towards maintaining and developing York Venues established reputation.
Information is recorded correctly and efficiently, ensuring where shift patterns occur information is passed to the relevant person accordingly; as a result all events run smoothly.
All staff work safely and are aware of procedures, ensuring events run safely according to relevant legislation.
The Hospitium and our other sites are presented to a high standard for weddings and events.
All staff are presentable (smart casual wear is acceptable) and adhere to the required standards. PPE where needed is supplied and used correctly.

Terms and conditions of service

Health

Prospective employees must be cleared by the Occupational Health Service as medically fit for employment by the Trust.

Probationary period

Appointments are subject to the successful completion of a six month probationary period.

Reporting line

This post reports to the Weddings and Events Manager.

Salary

The salary for the post is YMT SCP10, £8.25 per hour (£6,452 pa for 15 hrs pw).

Annual leave

The annual leave entitlement is 25 days per annum pro rata, increasing by five days after five years’ continuous service with the Trust, plus public holidays, pro rata.

Hours of work

The hours of work are 15 per week worked over 7 days, primarily at weekends and evenings, with the opportunity to work additional hours as and when required.

Period of notice

The period of written notice required for you to terminate this post is 1 month. The Trust will give you 1 month’s notice increasing statutorily.
